I think the biggest problem is really 3rd party. Nin uses Mario, Zelda, MP franchise again but the games are good and the fanbase is satisfied. 3rd Party was overwhelmed about the sales on Wii consoles and wanted to have a piece of the cake, too. There we have now two constelations, that are very bad for the quality of a game.
1. The publishers see the hype about the new console and so they ask the developers to make "quickly" one or more Wii games. 2. A lot of the Wii Gamers are casual gamer. The Wii made it to interest people in playing, that never played a console before. Let it be curiosity, coincidence or whatever but the Wii is now a "family" console. So we have a lot of game buyers, which doesn´t really inform about the quality of a game and they don´t want games like Zelda or Mario, because for such games you need to dedicate time (a lot of time). So they´re buying many "casual games" and games that are rated 70% and below, which are often really bad games, independent of if you´re a fan of the franchise.
The real thing I wanted to point out is, that because of this we have a lot of publishers that either throw mini-game like titles in the market or quickly made Wii ports, that have no "heart nor love", you know what I mean. But because there are so many casual gamers, that buy this games instead of "punishing" the 3rd partys and saying "HEY 3rd party not so easy. For this **** you have to pay me and not vice versa". This would give 3rd Party a good kick in the ass and they would learn, that they have to do good games or they don´t even get the crumbs of the cake. (Sorry for my englisch, I´m from Germany)
