The design Process. Pt. 1

Well, it may be the fact that I'm an industrial design student, but the reason that i think it's the "main" (or at least the approach my school takes on it) is because even if the main goal of an industrial designer is to create objects for everyday use with a high aesthetic value and possible to be produced with industrial processes, but that doesn't exactly mean that all of my projects involve the creation of one object, or the use of only one material.
As a matter of fact an industrial designer has to know about everything he can, he has to know materials, and processes for everyone, from metals to ceramic, from plastic to wood, everything. But that isn't all, because I've also had to do graphical presentations for most of my projects, so I've learned quite some graphic design, and the use of some computer programs, I've done animations, web pages, posters, and brochures, as well as chairs, plates, and home appliances , I'm even working with spaces this semester, taking a page from architecture, but thinking everything to the last detail, designing the outside, inside and contents of a place.
So, that's my view on industrial design, it's easy to go on and explore other areas of design, which isn't possible if one wants to focus on an area from the beginning. On the next entry I'll get more on detail on how the real design process is, seeing that I've cleared my background and from which point of view it'll come.
