Quarter One, 2009

Well, I know I'm kind of late posting something about '09, but I thought I would share my thoughts with you. As we are done with '08, we begin '09, and with that we should be expecting some good year breaking games, and rightfully so. We should get good games at the beginning of the year. I think that should be a publisher or developer's way of saying, "This year we'll be putting out some awesome games." However, I'm not so sure that's a developer's (or publisher's) thoughts. Most of the time all they care about is money and just create half-baked games at the beginning of the year and wait for the middle of the year or at the end of the year to make more sales. That's why (I think) that we get some awesome games during the Christmas season, because people will buy them as gifts to people, therefore boosting the sales.

Now let's forget all that I've said, because this February and March, there will be quite a few spectacular games coming out. Now let's go through the releases.

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin looks good, and the graphics look amazing. Although, it almost looks like a rehash of the first game.

Street Fighter IV. Whose not excited about this game? It looks just completely amazing!

Damnation is a game to look forward to. The color blends well with what Blue Omega is trying to accomplish. It almost looks like a happy horror shooter. Heh.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope looks like it's trying to be the RPG of Q1, if not the year. Since there is no Final Fantasy, we might as well look to this game to be the filler.

Killzone 2 is going to be promising. I think the guys at Guerrilla are really trying to improve the last game. Hopefully this game will challenge Halo at the FPS spotlight.

Halo Wars is finally coming out, and it looks very good. The graphics are good, and the animations look really smooth.

Resident Evil 5 is the one game I am looking forward to the most in 2009. The Co-op looks like it might be fun, but it could be stale. We won't know 'til we play it.

Bionic Commando looks like it will be an amazing game. Though Capcom could advertise it a bit more.

Well, there are my thoughts. Take 'em or leave 'em.

E3 '08, Microsoft Press Conference.

After watching the press conference on GameSpot, (And a little bit on G4) I must say I'm a bit disappointed. After thinking about it, I was saddened that no great announcements were made. Everything that was shown (Except for the XBox Live Arcade games) we knew about. For now I'll list the games that were shown, and comment. :|

Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts - Looks good, but doesn't make me think of the old Banjo Kazooie games. I think the series has a lost a bit over the last few years.

Viva Pinata: Trouble In Paradise - This game does make me happy. It looks really nice.

Gears Of War 2 - One of the few games that got me excited. The cover system looks great, and the shooting looked great.

Lips - What kind of a name is Lips? That should've been the codename. The compatability of Zunes and iPods does sound pretty cool.

You're In The Movies - What kind of an idea was this? It looks like Microsoft's reply to the Eye Toy that Sony had made. It might be fun, but it looks like a knock-off.

Resident Evil 5 - Great, this game looks great. Smooth animation, and a good looking co-op system.

Those are the only games really worth mentioning. The others looked either cliche'd or just boring. I'm sorry, but those are my feelings for the games coming out.

So Many Good Games Coming Out, So Little Money

September 2008, my gaming heaven, or hell. So many games I'm anticipating are coming out in September, but my family is also going on vacation at the same time. Usually I save up some money so I can buy some stuff, but this year I may not. Well that's my dilemma. Maybe anyone who actually see's/reads my blog can help. Yes, that means YOU. Vacation money or the games I list below.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed- PS2

Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows - PS2

Spider-Man: Web Of Shadows - DS

Gauntlet - DS

Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise - DS

MLB Power Pros 2008 - DS

Spore Creatures - DS

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters Of The Chosen - DS

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - DS

Lock's Quest - DS

Disgaea DS - DS

Robocalypse - DS

Tony Hawk Is Finally Proving That Ground Is Under Him

Tony Hawk's Proving Ground: 3.5/5

Tony Hawk's: Proving Ground, is a good, basic skateboarding game. It's Probably the best skateboarding game on the Nintendo DS, considering there's only three skateboarding a games out there, and one in development (Technically there's only two, because Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam is more of a racing game than a straight up skateboarding game).

I believe they did a good job with the graphics, considering they had to be Nintendo 64 quality (maybe a little less), that the levels are fairly big and they could fit them all on there. But hey, technology is amazing these days. The only thing is that the trees look rather "junky," I know this is a Nintendo DS game, but I think they could have done a better job with the trees then what they had done.

There really is no storyline other than you're a new skateboarder, you just opened a skate park, and Tony Hawk magically appears to be in town. After you do what you have to do in you're skate park, you then go to Philly, then it just keeps going on and you have to complete specific goals to pass the level. Basically the so-called "storyline" is the same since Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. With the exception of Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam.

The gameplay is the same basic gameplay from all the past Tony Hawk games, except that you have the "special" tricks that you can pull if you tap their image on the touch screen. The environments are just as good as the past Tony Hawk games, but they are somewhat smaller then the new ones in games such as American Wasteland and Project 8. But hey it's a handheld game for Pete's sake!

Some people may be wondering about the character customization and how good it is. It's good, you can design your clothes and your skateboard deck. But what I've noticed is that the shirt customization has one problem, it has to be a long sleeve shirt. It can get pretty aggravating when you have a great idea for a short sleeve short, you make it, and suddenly you remember it has to be a long sleeve short. Then with modifying the shirt to be a long sleever it can be either better, or worse. But other then that one problem, it's great.

In summing this review up, TH: PG is a solid game that can be recommended to either the hardcore Tony Hawk fan or the casual gamer that wants to go on a Tony Hawk video game ride

Stellar Lights

I've been playing some Metroid Prime Hunters lately, and I must say some of the wacky lights in the game are crazy looking. But yeah, right now I'm stuck finding the Sniper Rifle, just so I can get through some sort of force field. Can anyone help me?

UPDATE: I still haven't found the Sniper Rifle, so I still need help.
