Well, I know I'm kind of late posting something about '09, but I thought I would share my thoughts with you. As we are done with '08, we begin '09, and with that we should be expecting some good year breaking games, and rightfully so. We should get good games at the beginning of the year. I think that should be a publisher or developer's way of saying, "This year we'll be putting out some awesome games." However, I'm not so sure that's a developer's (or publisher's) thoughts. Most of the time all they care about is money and just create half-baked games at the beginning of the year and wait for the middle of the year or at the end of the year to make more sales. That's why (I think) that we get some awesome games during the Christmas season, because people will buy them as gifts to people, therefore boosting the sales.
Now let's forget all that I've said, because this February and March, there will be quite a few spectacular games coming out. Now let's go through the releases.
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin looks good, and the graphics look amazing. Although, it almost looks like a rehash of the first game.
Street Fighter IV. Whose not excited about this game? It looks just completely amazing!
Damnation is a game to look forward to. The color blends well with what Blue Omega is trying to accomplish.It almost looks like a happy horror shooter. Heh.
Star Ocean: The Last Hope looks like it's trying to be the RPG of Q1, if not the year. Since there is no Final Fantasy, we might as well look to this game to be the filler.
Killzone 2 is going to be promising. I think the guys at Guerrilla are really trying to improve the last game. Hopefully this game will challenge Halo at the FPS spotlight.
Halo Wars is finally coming out, and it looks very good. The graphics are good, and the animations look really smooth.
Resident Evil 5 is the one game I am looking forward to the most in 2009. The Co-op looks like it might be fun, but it could be stale. We won't know 'til we play it.
Bionic Commando looks like it will be an amazing game. Though Capcom could advertise it a bit more.
Well, there are my thoughts. Take 'em or leave 'em.
