Quick play

I decided to go with COD 3 as my next game.  It was good, but very short.  It took me only a few sessions to burn through it.  So again I am faced with having to choose my next game.

I am inclined to wait it out a few weeks because it looks like there are some great games coming out during the back half of the month and just biding my time playing Wii Sports.  Perhaps the VC will hold me over, depending on what comes out today.

As mentioned, Tiger Woods Golf looks interesting, and Medal of Honor: Vangard and The Godfather: Blackhand also look promising.

I was particularly excited to see the Fire Emblam import last week.  This is a great series and I am hoping they are working on the North American version.

As always, I welcome recommendations, so send them along.

Moving on with the Wii

Well, I have completed LoZ: TP.  While it is always fun to finish a game, there is a little part of me that is disappointed, because I know I am pretty much done with the game.  I am not big on replaying games a second time, as there are always new games out there that I have not completed.

Overall, a great game...everything I had hoped for since its announcement long, long, LONG ago.  I am thinking COD3 is next on the list, but I have heard good things about the Marvel game, too, so perhaps that will get the nod.  If you have a recommendation, send it along with the reason you like it.

I have also downloaded a few games on the VC.  So far it has been the classics (i.e. Super Mario Bros. types).

Doing more AC: WW than FF III at the moment on the DS, but still switching between.

As for upcoming games, Tiger Woods Golf is on my radar for the Wii (with Madden 2008 far off in the distance, but still on my mind), and Lost In Blue 2 for the DS.

The General's general stuff

Well, here we are, 2 months from Wii launch, 1 month since the Wii arrived in the General's Quarters, and so far, so good.  I like the news service, and have downloaded a number of the Virtual Console games.  I am waiting for Kid Icarus and Punch Out! (which I hope will be Mike Tyson's Punch Out!).

Excessive time has been spent on LoZ: TP, and at this point, I am almost done (one more mirror shard to go, for those who know what that means).

So far, I only have two games.  Not that I am not interested in more, but once I am done with those I will grab a new one.  I hear the Marvel game is pretty good, so I'm thinking about that.

On the DS I have been going back and forth between FF III and AC: WW.  I like the simplicity of AC, and am looking forward to seeing this on the WII.

Santa Rules!

Well, Santa appreciated my dedication to being patient and waiting for a Wii, and in return, he brought me one (well, not Santa, my wife did, but I am sure she did it at his request).  They should package Wii with business cards for divorce attorneys, because given the time I am spending with this thing, I will likely need one soon.

As you can see in my profile I have three games that arrived the same day.  Yes, I rated Zelda 10.0, but so far (only a few hours in) it is everything I hoped it would be.  This may change, but for now, that's the deal.

As for my GameCube, I held a little private ceremony, thanked it for its long time dedication to me, and gave it an honorable send off.  It is now on a secondary TV in case I need to play it from time to time...but we were honest with each other, and I told it not to hold its breath waiting for me.  We both cried a little (it was very moving, trust me, you had to be there), but we both knew it was time.

So, if you also have a Wii and are looking to add people, send me a note with your Wii number, and I will get you back with mine and we can connect.

For now, you will be able to find me somewhere between day and night.

Until later,

Zod

Checking in and checking out the Wii

Greetings and Salutations...

Just checking in, it's been a while.

Well, the Wii has launched.  Looks like it is impossible to find for anything close to the listed price.  The high demand has allowed for high prices and forced bundle packages.  Not surprising, just unfortunate.  Again, I'll just wait for it to be in supply and a bit cheaper.

Entertaining story on Yahoo! today about people losing the grip on the Wiimote and smashing things.  Made me laugh.  Nintendo will have to start selling the stick spray wide receivers use on their hands and gloves.

Still hacking through BKO, still having fun, although I have not sat down with it for a week or so.  Other things going on, but I'll get back to it soon.

I'm interested to see what the new Zelda game will look like on the GameCube, and whether I should pick that up prior to getting a Wii, or just wait until I get the Wii and get Twilight Princess then.

Interested in hearing comments from those that have a Wii, what you think, and was it worth getting at launch.  A buddy of mine got it and swears by it, so I am planning a quality test drive of the system at his place this weekend, so I'm looking forward to that.

Getting started

OK, so I figure I am starting to hang out here way to often, so I might as well throw down a bit about who I am.  That way, when I make comments about games, you can determine if you think you are on the same wavelength as me (which is disturbing), or if I am a complete idiot (strong evidence available on this), and make your decision about the game based on that.

First off, I play Nintendo.  No PS, no XBox.  Nothing against those systems, but I don't have the time or money to spend on them, so that's that.  Also, the idea of dropping $600 on a PS3 feels like a bit much.

I am not Cartman psychotic about to arrival of the Wii (for those who saw South Park last night).  I'll get it when I get it.  I am still plowing through some good GameCube games, so that will keep me happy while the price on the Wii drops.

I only get to play a few hours a day, and I don't get to play everyday.  If I could, believe me I would, but I can't, so I don't.  So if you are checking to see how frequently I am turning over games and commenting, stop wasting your time, it doesn't happen that often.

As for what I am doing right now, well, splitting time between the GameCube and DS.

Time on the GameCube has been completely dedicated to Baten Kaitos: Origins.  An outstanding game, and I highly recommend it.  At the same time, it is not for everyone.  If you are not familiar with the series, rent it first, but give it a few hours to get going (don't be one of those morons who spend about 10 minutes on a game and dismiss it....way to be patient).

On the DS I am playing Phoenix Wright.  It is fun, pretty linear, but impossible to lose.  I recommend giving it a try if you can get your hands on it (I guess it has been pretty hard to find).

Until I return,
