Definitely something that needed to be said. I doubt it will be a wake up call for the big developers, but it's certainly raised a flag.

I never really saw anything about this until the box for the game appeared on the shelf. Usually games that sneak out like this are just hopeful that they get picked up by kids who think they're hardcore for buying these sorts of games or parents who don't know any better. They also tend to suck hard. Good to see the pattern is still going strong

Whilst the editor of the article raises a few questions as to the technical properties of the system, it does all seem to differ on his specific view point. He mentions that everything seems proprietary, but the same could be said with the 3DS and it's charger cable, and you can't just plug an iPhone in to anything and it will charge. That there's proprietary memory does bother me though, as it was one of my problems with the PSP as well, though it's not exactly a deal breaker. And he mentioned that the games were all linked to a single account. So? Sony has been doing that for a long time with their online services, and people can share the account and just make different save files, it's not a problem. And has been said by a few others in the comments, a lot of the software issues can be reworked in patches. Software is easy enough to make better, and the hardware is already top notch, so I see no problem with that at all. Besides, when it all comes down to it, a console is nothing without it's game library, and what the Vita offers is something to admire. The Wipeout and Uncharted titles stand out, but there are a lot of other games coming for it as well, such as the port of MvC3, Shinobido 2, Ridge Racer, Silent Hill, Killzone, there's a lot of good names hitting the Vita. It can definitely stand on it's own, and I'm sure given time it will be a device that many people will learn to love.

The one game I seriously cant wait for is final fantasy dissidia, a mix of my most favourite genres. Versus XIII would be cool but it comes out in 2010...
