I think you should go alone. I don't think you would want to miss that opportunity and you can always meet people who share your interests there.

THIS IS TRUTH! i lived in the middle east for 11 years. and all the bathrooms had a bidet.....now i tried this and it just uplifted my entire world view. i stopped putting toilet paper in the freezer after a spicy meal. a nice relaxing rinse was a godsend.
however i live in america again. and NO ONE here has a bidet. so its all TP.
back to the point. i sit. and i never knew there was another way. and i just asked my brother....and to my astonishment......he stands. MY MIND HAS BEEN BLOWN. i just dont know whats going on. HE had no idea you could sit and whipe. its just the most alien thing in the world. no side seems to know the other exists.
