I rented far cry 2 and tried it online and hated it..is there something im missing or does the game just suck?

I got laid off so I play like 5-6 hours a day...COD-world at war on live...can't get enough!

So I just got xbox live...any verterans of live that can let me know of anything cool or little cool techniques to use? I'm playing SF4 and NHL 2k9, any advise would be appreciated.
