Ok, to start out, I myself am a GameFAQ's user... deal with it. I'm sure everyone on both sides has noticed a bit of animosity towards the other side. I'm just guessing here but this is probably because of some slight differences in the audiences the two sites appeal to generally (or if you want to look at it another way, stereotypically). While gamefaqs is more of an old style, text-only based forum that appeals to (generally) older audiences, Gamespot is a more updated graphically integrated site that is aimed at ease of use by implementing the same strategies as microsoft has been using in their NTFS operating systems (dont worry if you didnt understand that, that means Windows 2K and XP along with some others). This means that Gamespot will draw in the same people as gamefaqs, but also be completely inviting to some of the younger and/or immature audiences.

Keep in mind that is the stereotype... at least from the gamefaqs perspective. I dont know what you guys think of us but im suspecting its just as far off base (or on target if you want to look at it that way).

Now... while this requires effort from both sides it would probably be a good idea for someone from GF to offer suggestions to GS users on how to lessen tensions (and vice-versa).

I dont have a lot of time right now so ill add other things later, but here are probably the biggest things anyway.

#1. For the love of god try to at least type correctly. Im not talking about spelling mistakes or misuse of some abstract grammar rules, im talking about the whole "OmG tis G4m3 ist a b3$t" (i might have exagerated but thats the gist of it). A lot of people in gamefaqs are unfortunately very sensitive about the whole "1337" speak and it is generally frowned upon. Plus seeing as how most GF users didnt want to merge in the first place expect this to cause problems... dont worry we criticize our own people too for doing that but people will do the whole "GameSpot Account - Only GameFAQs user profiles can be fully viewed on GameFAQs." which seems to piss you guys off. Ignore it, dont even respond... its just them finding an excuse to label you as stupid (and looking back through history id have to say thats human nature), besides it doesnt deserve a response and if you did give one it would quickly degrade into bickering. Ill go more in depth later on this...

#2. Dont try to label GF users as anything. You guys hate it when we label you, so how do you think we feel? Leave what site you belong to out of it and keep it at a personal level even if it degrades into an argument... just like you dont bring race/religion/sex into an argument you dont bring up the differences between you and the other person. If they bring up the whole "GS user = idiot" argument you can easily win this argument by staying out of the GS vs. GF and being the more mature individual... most of us GF people should recognize this and support you (if im active in the forum you posted in i know ill support anyone who is trying to avoid lowering themselves to that level)

#3. Be considerate of GF limitations. I admit you guys have a pretty cool setup here being able to see pictures without the whole copy/paste deal. However for some reason GF users (me included) dont want to give up the community... no thats not right... the illusion of the community that weve been a part of for a while. I say illusion because all of the GS and GF boards are merged so in a technical sense we are one community. We split ourselves up because we dont see eachother as equals... all of this has an uncountable amount of historical examples to it but im sure you know enough to get the point. Things to remember about gamefaqs are:

#3-1) We cant see any pictures what-so-ever on the forums itself... that includes avatars, sigs, [URL] tags, etc. If you want to post a picture please post a photobucket (or whatever leads to the picture) address so we can see too... this really pisses people off even if the pictures are meant as a hoax (because we cant tell).

#3-2) We cant see ANY of your rankings/levels/karma/whatever its called, we cant see your profiles, we basically cant see ANYTHING except this...

"GameSpot Account - Only GameFAQs user profiles can be fully viewed on GameFAQs."

Generally it is an unspoken assumption that you guys can see all of our crap... which i got curious about a little over a month ago and discovered this...

"________ has not created a profile yet. Maybe tomorrow. Yeah, maybe ________ is a chronic procrastinator. Or just really, really shy. Sadly, the world may never know. Why not send ________ a private message with some words of encouragement?"

Its certainly more polite and less suspicious then what we get but it kinda means the same thing... oh and im sure you noticed but we cant recieve 'Private messages' so dont bother...

The whole point behind this is that the lack of information sharing generally creates mistrust at some level.

#3-3 I should have put this with the pictures but we cant see the hyperlinks where you just click and it directs you to a site... so if you could have the hyperlink and then immediately under it a regular address (again) that would go a long way.
