M$ Playing Favorites?

Well it looks like, Blue Dragon is going to be a commercial flop. Now some might point to the luke warm reviews. While others will speculate that the Turned Based RPG's time has come and gone. However I believe the biggest portion of the games failure should be placed on Microsoft.

Now how does one come to such conclusion? M$ surely gave Artoon and Mistwalker ample amount of time and Money, (M$ even helped finance Mistwalker studio's). But all the time in the world, all the money and even the best games will fail without one crucial element.... Marketing.

Halo3, another M$ product is receiving astronomical amount of hype and marketing. With everything from TV ads, Radio Ad's, viral campaigns and even it's own Mountain Dew. My only question is why? Halo is a successful franchise and would sell millions regardless of all of these marketing ploy's. True it needs to be marketed but not to this extent. People knew what Halo was before Halo 3, Blue Dragon is a new IP with out a fan base or even much consumer knowledge. Instead of spending millions of marketing dollars on a franchise that will sell, why not try to help the title that actually needs to get it's name out to consumers? I mean there wasn't even a English Trailer released for BD, and those Ad's are just down right horrible. It's as if M$ had no faith in a turned based RPG to be a hit with American consumers. But the PS2 is a testimate that there is a market for these type of games.

Looking into my Crystal ball I for-see, Lost Odyssey getting stepped on by Biowares Juggernaut Mass Effect having a now legendary Xbox developer working on it. Too Human will be sliced to pieces by Ninja Gaiden2 another known franchise that's been around since the Nintendo era. Why not give marketing dollars to the new guy's? Established franchises are just that established. These new guys and New IP's cant use there name to help pull in sales. And as long as M$ plays favorites with it's developers the less orignal new content we'll get from first party developers. Anyone up for Banjo Kazooie 3? A some 10 year old franchise:roll:
