I always find it amazing that people can take the words in a book, build a belief structure around it, and worship a being that has no physical form but they can't believe that in a vast physical universe there is other life.

I guess I'm glad you're assessment of me is wrong, petr. It sounds like you know that feeling all too well though. If you need to open up I'm sure you can find someone to talk to who is trained to properly help you with your feelings of isolation. And no, you still haven't gotten the point of that post.

Please, don't bring god into this issue. I believe in god, and god did not make this happen. Uh...I hate it how everyone uses god as a scapegoat for bad things like this. It just sickens me. Such ignorant, stupid idiots.

john_doe2

I never said anything about god making it happen, nor do I even think there is a god. I'm saying that I hear plenty of people all of the time say things about god's will when something bad happens (usually not this tragic) and praise god when something good happens (instead of taking credit for them making it happen). My point is that if you're gonna believe in a god and his will then you can't pick and choose when it works for you. It's either there or it isn't. And I agree with you, anyone that mentions god like that is ignorant.

[QUOTE="GodofPoop2"]I won't though. I am sorry if you were raised in a household where mommy and daddy held your hand and told you everything was lollipops and sunny days. I'm sorry if they didn't tell you the things you didn't want to hear. It doesn't change the fact that there is a real world out there and one day you will come face to face with it. And in this real world people have opinions that might differ from yours. You can't silence them, you can ignore them if you choose, but not silence them.cpo335

Seriously, go away. I believe in God, but don't believe God wanted those peopel to die you fundamentalist. Seriously, that's not the right way to read the bible or believe in God. Actually, you might not be a fundamentalist, you're a fatalist. Your insensativity towards this is mindblowing, you must have grown up in a household where your fatehr and mother sheltered you and made you read the bible all day. Catholic school boy, too I bet. It's okay, I am too, but I don't believe anything you said. Those peopel didn't die because of "Gods Will", they died because some psychopathic, mindless, freak decided to shoot innocent people. God's Will is something taught to you by nuns and priests, not anymore.

So Iif I break my leg tomorrow and come post about it here in Ot, will you say it was God's will. That he wanted me to be in pain and not able to do the thigns I have fun doing? Bet you will.

I wouldn't play poker if I were you. Everything you just bet on was way off. As far as your leg goes; what if he wanted you to feel that pain and loss in preparation for something greater down the road? Are you pretending to understand god's will? And seriously, you can go away if you want but I'm not (and I'm not telling you to go away either, it's your choice).

whatever dude, you can keep posting like your smart, idc. and by the way, my mommy and daddy didnt tell me everything was lollipops and sunny days, it was puppy dogs and rainbows

Wasn't posting like I'm smart, but at least I'm smart enough to know that you should've used "you're" (as in you are smart) instead of your (as in your problem). More importantly, I'm appearing smart to you because you obviously didn't get the point of the last post.

I'm not big on religion, so I'll make this short and sweet... To people out there who belive in god and say that we couldn't have evolved from apes because god made man in his own image; who's to say god isn't 4 ft tall, hairy, and walks on his knuckles? Maybe we were made in god's image and we evolved into something better (thereby surpassing god). That is if god even exists.

dont ever post on OT or at least any of my topics again.

SaintLeonidas

Just don't make any more topics, that will solve it. Your intollerance for a different (and logical) viewpoint shows your close mindedness and (I dare say) ignorance. It is people like that that cause things like this to happen because they refuse to see the problems in front of them and can't hear the voices of others.

I challenge this (as I have all day to anyone that has mentioned this incident); do you believe in God? Most of you will say "yes" and then think that I'm going to question why god would allow something like this to happen...well I'm not. If you believe in god then you must believe in a little thing called "god's will". If there is a god then these people died because he wanted them to die; it doesn't get any more simple than that. Everyone keeps crying over people they never met who died in a situation they weren't involved and all the while they pray to a god that is thinking "I meant for that to happen". It's a shame that young people died, but what about the people who die every day around the world for causes we don't care to understand. I personally don't believe in god. I believe that things like this happen because of bad parenting and the velvet gloves that people have to wear in this world because of dumbass civil rights groups and frivolous lawsuits. The point is that whatever you believe in (god or no god) this stuff happens everyday all over the world...it's the way of life and life is how we've made it. Deal with it or you'll be a victim too.
