I am putting together a PC for a friend. He will be using it mostly for video editing and occasional gaming. The budget is around R6000 ($700). What would you recommend? Also, is a dedicated GPU necessary?

I have bought L4D2 and Killing Floor so far. Now I am having some trouble with the steam store though. I can't access it through my browser or through the steam program. All I see is a white screen when using steam to try and access the store.

Any suggestions?

Total War Shogun 2 and not really a campaign by Civilization V is fantastic to play with friends.

I have been struggeling to win games at level 4 (Prince) difficulty. The AI always seems to have massive armies and I always have a paltry stockpile of units. This always happens in the early-game. So do you have any idea what I am doing wrong? I have got a feeling that I am not building enough cities. I keep about 7 tiles between each city. Is that too stretched out? I am specialising my cities though and researching all relevant technologies.

I am really stumped as to what I am doing wrong. Any suggestions?

I would personally suggest you try Civ V. It is much easier to get into than Civ IV and its combat system is more satisfying.
