Ok, so I was browsing the Official Nintendo magazine website a few days ago and I looked at the review they gave House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return on Wii. It got 76% which is a reasonable score but what really annoyed me is that, in the verdict, they mark it down for being "Yet another port." Utter *insert expletive here*
Is it really right for you to look at a game and say "oh, it was on the ps2 so I'm not interested." if that's the case then why have the virtual console on the Wii in the first place? the virtual console was designed so that slightly younger gamers could experience such gems as Mario Brothers 3 and Ocarina of Time. Someone's opinion really shouldn't change on that matter just because the game has still been on other systems within the last 5 years. This point dosen't just extend to games such as House of the Dead; people are also sceptical of games such as Okami being brought to this generation. Yet again; this game was rather rare and most people didn't get to play it and so, very kindly, Capcom decided to bring it to the Wii, where it might get the attention it deserved.
I don't really care how old a game actually is when it gets ported, just as long as it's a good port. ONM shouldn't mark games down for being "Yet another port." they should mark them down for being rubbish ports- certainly- but not for being ports. Can anyone else see it my way? Please let it be that I'm not the only one.
