On the other hand however it makes more sense to buy this then buying Surface Pro. Sure you'll probably get a heavier tablet but for the added 100$ you'll get a dedicated GPU which will make all the difference, at least in my opinion.

@jsmoke03 That may not be the case. There are a lot of great engines that are free (UDK4 for example). I only hope that when the game comes out (say with 2.4mil budget) that the players will honor the fact that it's made for both Mac and Linux as well as Windows and they will actually buy the game rather then get it from one torrent or another. I myself though avid pirate (yargh!) do plan to buy this game even if it means not eating anything for weeks. :)

What worries me is that games would become service. That line alone makes me shiver. Does that mean that I'll pop 50-60$ only to have it turned off when no one else wants to play it? I can hardly imagine EA or any other company keeping a game alive just for one player. And they could do it with out any backfire at them as it's a service they provide so they can choose when they don't want to provide it anymore.

Personally I like to have video game boxes and hard copies but truth be told until couple of years ago I was strictly on pirate copies of games, and I must have around a hundred discs with all sorts of games. Granted where I live 50$ for a game is 1/6 of what my dad makes per month but I also didn't know that the games were "pirated", Hell I only got internet after I saw WoW and that was accidental.

Today I have a small but growing collection of games and I'll be damned if I don't say that I do smirk a bit every time I open my closet and see them all lined up. There's just something about those boxes with manuals and all sorts of thing inside. I can't imagine myself buying digital copies if only because the amount of money is very high and I didn't actually get anything for it. Plus the Net sucks for big downloads :P

P.S. I apologize if this came out like a mindless rant, I just had to put it out there :)

@x_Xarion_x From what I understand you can either be an independent studio that can make an outstanding game BUT it most likely won't be AAA game as you don't have the amount of money required to make AAA game OR you can find a publisher (say EA) who will fund your project but you will have very LIMITED time frame within which you can make a AAA game. You are more likely to make very innovative game if you're independent as you will have more time to work it out but you won't have AAA game and that will cost you. Games that you mentioned had limited time frame so they tried to be as innovative as they could but ended up being generic shooters with some innovative features and that kind of left them hanging somewhere in the middle without too much audience. It takes more then a year to make a good game but big publishers don't want good games rather they want the games that sell. So every year you get some sort of BF or CoD that's not innovative but sells millions of copies that cost 50-60$ each.

@QrGmNcShip016 I would argue that it's better if they're competitors because they need to be innovative as much as possible in order to increase their sales and beat the competition. The only thing about both consoles that makes me sad is that in a year or two they will be replaced by newer ones even though they haven't been used to their max potential :/ I'm a PC gamer myself but I follow closely what comes out in the game world and from what I've read there's a lot more potential left in both Xbox and PS but devs just don't seem to tap into that potential. Most of them anyway.

@transformer1992 I reckon if this game goes well, as in dark-themed Star Wars chances are that we will see both Battfront 3 and Republic commando 2 as they are much more suited to be mature rated rather then scaled down to 16+. That's what I think at least.. .who knows we might even see new Jedi Knight :)
