Check your IP address, sometimes the IP address gets dropped, Go to your netowrks setting screen, Settings Connection Status list, view it and see what it is showing. If you aren't showing any numbers and all zeros for every entry, Go to Internet COnnection Settings and set them up in automatic mode, this should help you out. I am assuming you are running the wireless set up. I'm running the Linksys Wireless G router.
On my settings screen: Picture mode: Standard Advanced Iris Auto 1 Picture: 75 Brightness: 75 Color: 80 Hue: 0 Color Temp: Cool Sharpness: 70 Game Mode: On You may have to adjust your settings lower than this, It took me a while. The newer TV sets have a higher refresh rate around 240Hz, I think most older TV's are around 100Hz. The newer TV's are coming out with the higher rate.
I don't think it's burn in. Try adjusting your settings, it sounds like motion blur. Try tweaking your settings. I have an LCD TV, I was having a similar issue, I turned down my settings from MAX, I created a gamer setting (Custom), I don't have the blur issue anymore. I am running 1080p with a 60G PS3, connected also with an HDMI cable. Hope this helps.
