@DaneGamer I agree, besides the fact that I'd consider myself a Nintendo fanboy cause I feel they make great first party games, as you stated they make games that the rest of the industry doesn't. I enjoy the "mainstream" games for the most part, but I've gotten bored of the countless shooters, mmos, mobas (arts <- I like this term better but few ppl know it) because after awhile a lot of them feel like the same sandbox with different tools in them.
Nintendo offers unique experiences and someone may say "they just rehash the same games over and over the same as everyone else". Which may be partially true, but they also make games that are fun to play every time. So you don't get tired of it the same way after the 8th CoD release in 4 years you're tired of that content.
Ultimately I just wish they would release games for the Wii U already so I could use the system for more than a Monster Hunter 3 U box.
I'm not sure who wants annual releases for games...but I'm certainly not one of them. Games like Assassin's Creed have put a sour taste in my mouth by shelling out a new game every year. Knowing that game development takes a long time (much longer than a year) it means there is no innovation, probably the same engine, and is more than likely a quick cop out.
When EA/DICE (partially) was shelling out a shooter a year I was getting nervous they would fall into the same trap CoD did. MW and MW2 were solid after that it was just a constant rehashing with minimal changes and new maps. It was annual stand alone releases of map packs for full retail prices.
I miss the days however when "Expansion Pack" meant something and wasn't just a map/gun pack. Look at the expansions for BF2, each one added new game changing additions.
Yeah if a game sucks and you put a demo for it then yeah you're going to sell less. Additionally if you don't make a good demo then people get the wrong idea of you're game. Demos are often too short and you get a small window of what the game is about. Your demo needs to show off the better aspects of your game.
@Sam_021 @AggrandizedUser GFWL is dead if I'm not mistaken, but it's probably being released as a Windows Store App so it can only be released on Win 8, but that would also make it playable on all Win 8 tablets
