Planet Earth is a fairly new nature documentry. It is split up into 11 episodes coveringsome of the most amazing things that you will find on this planet. It was co-produced with the Discovery Channel and the Jappan Broadcasting Corporation in association with CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation). I just finished watching the episode on caves on CBC. I highly recommend this show to anyone who has any kind of interest in whats going on in the environment. Sure its got some conservation stuff for about 1 hour, but there is approximately 10 more hours in HD on the miraculous things on this planet. It makes you wonder, and think about the amount of damage were doing to the planet and the need to sustain and protect the amazing things that are here.
I personally find that most people wake up everyday and do not even consider what is going on in the world, what is happening to the planet. A lot of people are just straight up ignorant, and believe that humans are the only thing that lives on this planet, and that destroying nature is something that happens everyday and that this is normal. This is not normal by any means, and is rather depressing in my oppinion. I have never really taken a deep interest in the environment until hearing about David Suzuki and watching shows on the Discovery Channel (no not the stupid animal shows that people make fun of because the animals are involved in sexual activities, GROW UP PEOPLE). I would really like to visit some of these places in the world because there are just that spectacular. I can't seem to grasp how amazing this planet is, and how the hell did this world get created out of pure luck. It is truly one of kind, literally, because whomever believes that once this planet is destroyed theres another one we can go to, is completly out of their mind. This is why we have to change our lives as humans. In a day and era wherethe most destruction of his planet is occuring, this is also a time where we have the education and science to stop the destruction. I feel that if people acctually watched this show,it would have a change on their outlookon this planet. The show goes over the many different areas of earth, observing and presenting amazing footage of all the life that is out there. Some of the footage is mind blowing to the extent where some times you question, "is this real?". Not because it looks fake, but its honestly that crazy.
If you would like some great imformation on the film, you can go to its website or look it up on wikipedia (great source for the seriesdespite some peoples lack of trust in it). I plan on purchasing the HD version of the series in a couple of weeks.
I commented to a friend of mine last week, "Were destroying the planet". He replied, "were not destroying the planet, were destroying our planet." In other words he implied that the Earth is going to be alive long after humans become extinct. Well, not many organisms can survive an apocalypse (some bacteria can). Sure, it may not become all out war, but it definitly seems we are fighting over the wrong things (Oil). I think in order to save the enviroment, to the save the world,we must become self sustainable. Canada and the United States should become self sustainable, that way we are not screwed by the effects of global warming affecting the rest of the planet. It is still our jobs to change our lives to help the planet, but unfortunetly it is going to be difficult to control every country in the world. One of my major concerns these days is the rise in population. Canada's population is acctually suppose to decrease due to the nearing time where most of the baby boomers are going to pass way. Unfortuanetly other countries in the world are continuing to grow in population which is very damaging on planet Earth. The population needs to start decreasing, not increase. As much as some may believe it is important to help the people of Africa, their population is not under control by any means. They completely neglect the idea that people take up resources, and all resources are going to deplete eventually (especially fresh water :(, that is not good). One thing the Americans are doing is taking Canadian fresh water. Canada has the most fresh water on the planet, but it is not for the Americans to be taken this, rather we should be charging them as they charge other countries for other necesities (unless this was changed). It will be a difficult thing to do especially since the population is suppose to grow from 6 billion. It is specifically up to developing countries, China, and India to take control of limiting the population. If they can do this, I see no problem with providing aid and improving the life of people in the world.
I am not at all a religious person and I am pretty much on the brink of being atheist. I still believe that is important as human beings that we protect the environment. Sure, I admit that I use a lot of electricity to play video games, but this problem can be avoided by improving the use of environmentally friendly renewable resources such as solar power and wind power. My parents would even be willing to purchase a hybrid car if they weren't so expensive(replacing the battery costs a lot considering most gas power cars last over 10 years without major maintence). Unfortuanetly the Canadian government at this time is right sided, The Conservative Party of Canada lead by the loser Steven Harper who looks literally evil (check out his eyes). I do not necessarily like any of the partys in Canada right now but I will say I am a lefty by far. If anything I believe Canada should have the Liberals in power with a minority, the NDP in 2nd and the Green Party in third. Yes some may say having 3 left winged partys is not such a good idea, but I do not consider the Liberals truly a left sided government rather they are in the middle. These 3 parties would make it possible to change Canada's outlook on the environment. it is quite apparent that Canadians are willing to give up things in order to save our world.
I could make an entire list on my oppinions, and some of them would be rather stupid becauseI did not put enough time into thinking about them. All I can say is that in the words of Budhism,"All life is sacred", and in the words of Churchill, "We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give." Save the world, because if you truly have a chance to look at it, you might find out how amazing it acctually is.
