So long (and thanks for all the fish) Relationships in games.

I'm curious to everyone who plays, enjoys and truly experiences games. When have you ever felt a real lasting relationship built within a game.

Currently I am playing Sleeping Dogs and i am blown away. When you have such amasing actresses such as Lucy Liu and Emma Stone in a game is one thing but when you have not a face but JUST a name to build on exquisite characters and enjoy the strength and emotion that they convey to their characters that you truly express their character to beyond the screen and beyond just your enjoyment of a game does it not mean that you have enjoyed one of the truley remarkable parts of playing a video game.

Before this we have been given the paltry voice acting of the random girlfriends and hookers of the Grand Theft Auto series or the random wives of Fable 1,2,3. Although i will not downplay their role as characters that as a player we may be able to continue the experence with (in the case of fable 3 being able to raise a child with) and build on what myself (the main character) but to truly experience a real relationship with.

I dare say that just to to Emma Stone's stellar voice acting work my experience with Amanda (Emma Stone) in Sleeping Dogs has really made me feel as if i had personally asked this character out on a date and enjoyed these experiences as a person.

We all know and love Emma Stone for her excellent work in everything from Superbad. Zombieland and as of late Gangster Squad. Lucy Liu in her voice acting work in Kung Fu Pandaand acting work in Elementary, with her major start in Allie McBeal.

None will deny that, even though the experiences are fake that if they were in the shoes of the character they play in the games that they wouldn't deny that they felt the same kind of bond and protective nature towards these characters they would not deny those feelings towards a person in their own lives whether it be a Mother, Sister or even cousin.

Let me know how you feel towards some of those characters you felt a special bond with.

Cortana, still has a special place in my heart (HALO Series)

If it wasn't for... (insert game complaint here)

How many times has this happened to you?

You just got home from the game store (or your download just finished), you boot up the brand new game letting your "New game Syndrome" be released from your system and you begin down the path of a new adventure. You might be a knight in shining armour, a space marine maybe even the commander of vast armies cleaving their way through the world.

After about 30 minutes or maybe an hour your frustrated and i mean really POed at this game. Why? It would be SOOOOO MUCH BETTER if it wasn't for that one little thing. I'm thinking about some specifics like an awkward control scheme (Twisted Metal). A better or less convoluted menu system (Mass Effect 1, dare i say it it Fallout 3 / new vegas) or just minor or major gameplay issues including being too damn difficulty (demon/dark souls although they are great games).

I have been playing video games as long as i can remember, there have been many beautys out there but so often i find myself looking back and even with the limits of technology in mind i can think of a ton of games that had that one little thing.

A small list here.

GTA (3,vice,4)- auto aim (yes this is a problem for me)

Crackdown- odd camera.

Just cause - using fighter jets is impossible.

Call of duty - lack of innovation and laggy multiplayer.

I'm hoping to get some feedback and always look forward to it and maybe a few other titles you have gripes with

Did that just happen? (Movie games or based on projects)

Well it seems that rumours are spreading about the most recent Brothers in Arms GameSpot Link herehttp://www.gamespot.com/news/brothers-in-arms-furious-4-abandoned-6377488

Personally i am happy about this but according to the game's Facebook pagehttps://www.facebook.com/brothersinarmsgameMany either don't know about this, or don't care about the romours. Without an update in over 9 months the facebook page seems to be foundering with many hoping to see this or hoping that the current rumours are true.

I look upon this game with disdain personally and think that it is a last chance cash in by Ubisoft and Gearbox to cash in on the mildly successful content in the movie Inglorious Basterds. Many people (gamers or not) found not only the movie to be highly pretentious but the idea of a not exact but a close ripoff (their words not mine) to be a lackluster attempt at a movie tie in game, and we all know that those are generally.... four letter worded.

Which brings me to another subject.

The movie tie ins, we have seen to many good ideas based on movies swirl about and finally seep down the drain of oblivion. I used to like the idea infact i have personally been caught buying a $59.99 (CAD) copy of a new game based on a movie that would have great potential but inevitably circle down the drain.

In fact Avatar could have been a much better game if someone "SOMEONE" not naming names here *cough cough* producer *cough cough* would have allowed for more time to be put into the games.

There are a few games that are worth mention.

I would give a HUGE high five to the makers of the 2003 Pirates of the Carribiean, what a great game. If only it wasn't for the fact that it was riddeled with bugs including on Xbox a white screen of death game killer or the mixed up saves (there were 3 people on the same system with no way to show who's save was who's and the white screen mixed them all up or corrupted them)

I wouldn't call it a movie tie in but Tron 2.0 hit the mark too. Far from a great game it really embodied what Tron was to me as both a child and a gamer. This was a game that allowed me to truely embrace the universe (or digiverse) of what i saw as a kid watching a game as a movie (or was it watching a movie as a game?)

As always i appreciate input and hope that i get a follower or two to give some ideas and critisizm to my blog SEE YOU ALL SOON!

This is the start

First off thanks for showing up to my first blog post, refreshments will be served at the end of the blog but i suggest you head on down to Purgatory bar on level 3 of the citadel for a few refreshing bright green shots. I hear they are all the rage these days.

But to be honest i wanted to show you a great video that pays homage to the history of major gaming

Titled "Go Right" byYouTube user RockyPlanetesimal Music byMichael Nyman - A Wild And Distant Shore

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiePaAHK3jE

This video shows the fundamentaldrive an essence of what games are built upon. A history of both brilliantand forgetable ideas that have been used to shape the future of games. It shows the essence of what made games both old and new great.

I know i'm probably forgeting something but as the era of first FPS and TPS games arrised there were no more genre breaking or new IPs that would break the mould.

I have to say i'm very thankful for Xbox Live arcade with hits like castle crashers and shank and yes i'm loving that juice swillin Hick P Walter Tugnut of shoot many robots with the side scrolling shooter/RPG elements with a whole lotta guns.

Anyways i want to know your thoughts and ideas because i'm all about user input

In the meantime here is amore practical way for Link to have completed his quest
