Weekly Gaming Update!

This week hasn't brought much in terms of gaming since I have been bogged down with work, however I did manage to complete F.E.A.R. 2, play the GH: Metallica demo and rent Skate 2 which I am yet to play.

F.E.A.R. 2
The game starts off from the perspective of a different character at the same time as the events of the first ending unfold. Generally it is pretty much more of the same, similar soldier enemies, locations etc however they have all been slightly expanded. Some locations especially the outdoor ones look really good, it's just a shame that a lot of the game forces you through generic corridors seen in abundance within the first game. This isn't such a big negative but it is the reason why the game begins quite weakly since it is set within a building. However the game soon picks up and becomes quite engaging towards the end, the story isn't amazing but does quite well and fills in a few blanks from the first game while still keeping it very understandable for newcomers to the series.

Graphically I have already said within my demo impressions that the visuals are very impressive and throughout my play through I didn't experience any technical issues or slow-down. Multiplayer had a little bit of lag however I believe that is more to do with my connection than the game, most times however it ran fine and is most enjoyable.

Overall the game is really quite good, it isn't a huge improvement to the first and some people may tell you it's worse which I can understand. In a way FEAR 2 lost something that made FEAR so special, the horror elements just aren't really very scary at times since you can anticipate them easily. But despite this FEAR 2 is still a great shooter and at £25 its one that I would recommend, especially since the multiplayer is quite solid and enjoyable.

Guitar Hero: Metallica
Every since the series began I always hoped they would make a Metallica expansion and now that it's on its way I simply cannot wait. I agree that the Guitar Hero franchise is getting saturated after being milked dry however I cannot resist this Metallica expansion. The presentation is slick and lots of Metallica elements such as album art are incorporated into the navigation and clips.

The demo contains 4 songs, 2 Metallica songs and 2 guest artists.

• Sad But True - Metallica
• Seek and Destroy - Metallica
• Stone Cold Crazy - Queen
• No Excuses - Alice In Chains

All the songs are really fun to play and as you would expect being Metallica they are pretty darn challenging. I can already imagine the Master of Puppets solo on expert or any of their songs on Expert+ drums.

Basically the game seems like more of the same but simply because it is Metallica I am intent on getting it. If you are not a fan of the series then this will not change your mind and if you are not really a fan of Metallica then I don't recommend it but for all the rest I think this will be a very good addition to the series since Metallica songs will be so much fun to play, no more basic drums beats lasting a whole song!

That's been it for this week however I have got Skate 2 and will post my opinion on it once I finish or get far enough through.

A Few Demo Impressions

Wanted: Weapons of Fate
I didn't really know much about this game when going into it and I was under the illusion that it was based upon the graphic novel rather than the recent movie release. Unfortunately this isn't the case and although it may not follow the film's plot exactly it is still based in the same film universe (Note: I haven't seen the film but I have read the novels).

The game isn't that bad, it isn't good or something new but it isn't entirely terrible either. The graphics are passable but not anything special, the environments seem to be the best aspect graphics-wise as they do look quite nice at times and contain various destructible elements. For example the demo is set on a plane and shooting the fire-extinguishers blew a hole in the plane causing objects to get sucked out. Yet overall the graphics are around average.

The game tries to add some variety in the gameplay with some special abilities and a Gears Of War-esque cover system but they simply aren't significant enough or refined enough to be enjoyable throughout the game. Once you've seen your curved bullet headshot a guy round the corner in slow-motion about 20 times it starts to become rather dull.

Overall Wanted: Weapons of Fate is a rather average game but a good effort for a movie licensed game. Possibly the best aspect of the game is the narration that plays throughout, although I doubt that is worth £30 and a few hours.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

I liked the first Riddick game immensely and it remains one of my favourite games of all time so it's understandable that I have quite high expectations from the sequel. But unfortunately...I can't really say much, the demo finished before I even got into it, rather disappointing. The graphics are good; the gameplay mechanics are almost identical to the first game and as such are amazing. The new drone-hack ability is in the demo and is highly enjoyable but other than that there isn't much more to comment on.

Despite this I do recall that the original Riddick game also had a rather poor demo so I am not put off the full game and am sure it will be just as good as or better than the first.

Wheelman
The final demo I will give impressions on is also from Vin Diesel's Tigon Studios and he also stars as the lead role. Firstly I believe that Vin is much more suited to the role of Riddick than the lead role of Wheelman but this is not really such an issue since the game plays out like an over the top action movie based around cars and crime. The gameplay is simple enough and is nicely fast paced and fun, various side missions will also add some variety to the mix and Vin has a number of tricks up his sleeves when it comes to cars which are all fun to behold.

Graphically the game is slightly better than average, despite using Unreal Engine 3 many character models are quite ugly and this becomes very clear during close-ups in cut scenes. Although the environments and cars are nicely modelled.
Overall the game doesn't really look that special in my opinion, it is designed to play like an over the top action film and that is certainly clear however personally it just doesn't really appeal to me and I will not be picking it up any time soon.

Finally a Braid impression!

Sorry for the long absence after my last post, things have been a bit hectic but I still found time to sit down to Braid and complete it.

Braid can only be described as amazing in my opinion, it's something so fresh and artistic that just oozes quality from every aspect. It is really clear that a lot of work and devotion went into the game. All the levels are well thought out and the puzzles are very clever and challenging. Gameplay is fun and varied with each world containing a different element that links into the story accordingly. This story is delivered through books before each world and is almost poetic in its delivery, there are many underlying images and themes that run throughout this story and add great depth to the story.
This is really a game that has to be experienced fully to understand it. It messes with your mind and the final level is no short of incredible as many people say and I finally know why.

I highly recommend Braid for anyone who likes a good story, crazily good puzzles/gameplay and anyone looking for something different to play. At just £8 this is definitely worth the money and if one of the better games available on XBL.

Quick Update
I recently rented FEAR 2 and will be receiving Resident Evil 5 tomorrow, as well as the many new demos that are up on XBL. All of which I will gladly play and post my impressions on the whole lot some time soon.
Check back soon for those impressions

New Game Updates

I've received quite a few games in the short space of last week which have been keeping me busy a fair bit although adding to the games I have to complete lol.
I bought Street Fighter IV, received my Saints Row 2 and just now bought Braid at the special 30% off price.
Here are my quick impressions for all except Braid since I am yet to play it.

Street Fighter IV
Surprisingly I have not played this as much but I have managed to complete the arcade mode as the fat new character Rufus, it is truly an extraordinary game from the gorgeous visuals to the addicting gameplay. I'm not usually a fighting game person however the chance to play another round of Street Fighter immensity after so many years could simply not be missed. The game is very fun and contains many more modes and unlockables to keep gamers enticed for months to come.
My skills have faded over the years but the game is very accessible to anyone, there are 7 difficulty levels so everyone will find the right level for them.

This is simply a great fun game to have in your collection and whip out occasionally, especially if you have mates round. A game like Street Fighter IV will last years to come and will be one of those game you will want to return to every now and again for a few fights. That said I personally cannot play it in long sessions, but rather in short concentrated bursts however it is still an amazing game that I recommend to anyone.

Saints Row 2
This is the game that has occupied most of my time this week and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, I never really expected the game to be quite so good. I like everything about it, the world, the story, the characters, cars, weapons, the entire game just sucks you in from the first moment with hilariously customisable characters and so many side missions and diversions that its quite insane. This is all quite good for me since I'm a bit of a completionist and this game will keep me occupied for a long, long time.

I wont go on too much about the game itself, but overall it is truly a great game and heavily echoes as the true next-gen sequel to GTA: San Andreas. Despite this I personally do not think that Saints Row 2 and GTAIV should be compared, they are quite different apart from the fact that its an open world crime game. The whole atmosphere and story is just completely different, Saints Row takes itself much less seriously and seems to be a lot more random fun whereas GTAIV is more serious and everything seems to be a tint of grey. Nether the less I love both games and I recommend both, but if you have to choose get GTAIV is you liked GTA3, get Saints Row 2 if you liked GTA: San Andreas. (I guess my whole don't compare the two thing just flew out the window :P)

That's my impressions on the two games and I will post up about Braid sometime soon when I get time to play it

A Quick Update

Another quiet week although that will not be the case soon as I will be playing a bunch of new games soon. I'm hopefully getting Street Fighter IV early next week as well as the GTA4 expansion "The Lost and Damned".

I have however gotten my hands on a rented copy of Rock Band 2 so that I can compare it to GH World Tour, here are my thoughts.

Rock Band 2 Vs. Guitar Hero: World Tour
I will only make this short regardless of the temptation to write a huge wall of text about it :P
Firstly I would like to say that I liked both games in different ways, although after having quite some time with Rock Band 2 I can quite comfortably say that I prefer it. I also used the drums, guitar and mic from World Tour and I confirm that they work perfectly.

Personally I preferred the song list of Rock Band, they seemed to get all the better songs from artists whereas Guitar Hero had an odd habit of choosing the not so great, but this is completely subjective so I suggest you look at each song listing and decide which you prefer.

The main thing that I liked about Rock Band is that is so much more engaging and deep with the career mode. Guitar Hero has separate careers for each instrument and although the setlists are different, the progression and settings are pretty linear across the board.
This is definitely not the case for Rock Band, you start in your bands defined home town and you work your way around the globe as you get a van, bus, plane etc to progress. There is a huge choice of major cities and each contain 3 venues which contain a variety of gigs and it is purely player's choice on which to play, half the cities I haven't even played in yet. You gain money and fans for performances and I liked that you occasionally received random events, for example a snarky reviewer who says your band relies too much on overdrive and you can choose to play your set without using overdrive to prove him wrong, these events usually reward you with more money or fans if completed and add a nice bit of variety and risk.

Essentially Rock Band feels much more immersive and a lot more like a band since you can organise your band and have permanent members that appear in all your gigs, although it would be nice if the money earned on one character could be used on any of the others in the band. The huge customizability also adds to the immersion in that it allows you to make you band look exactly like you want.

All the environments within the huge variety of cities and venues look amazing but sometimes I do prefer the Guitar Hero visuals since the gritty filter on Rock Band can become quite annoying. Little minor things like a count down after pausing and stuff like that is also quite nice in Guitar Hero but not enough to win in this fight.

In my books this is quite a clear winner for so many reasons but I still like both games, if only Rock Band had Guitar Hero's visuals and a 5 pad drum it would be truly a hands down winner.

Another Week and Some More Impressions!

So another rather slow and tiring week has passed but I may now rejoice since I have a week of holiday to relax and sleep. Gaming wise this week has not brought much for me, I did download and play the latest Tom Clancy game HAWX and will be giving my impressions on that. I will also write my updated impressions of the Resident Evil 5 demo since my views have slightly altered.

But before I get into the impressions I would just like to mention that I am changing this blog and instead of writing a wall of text every week I will break it up into separate posts when I feel the need. This will make it a little easier on the eye and a little less menacing. Now onto the impressions!

Resident Evil 5 Updated Impressions
Last week I played the Resident Evil 5 demo and quite frankly I was not too impressed, in my first impression I raised various issues and negatives that I found while playing. However after playing it for a further week and also having a mate round to play some coop I noticed that I began to enjoy it more and more. The issues I pointed out didn't seem to be such a problem and even the pesky Inventory system began to grown on me. I found that it added a lot of tension into the combat since you could no longer rely on the super suitcase that freezes time, after a few play thoughts I found it quite quick to use however I still believe there should be a secondary inventory that contains key items and such.

The coop mode on Resi 5 plays nicely save for the fact that the screen is awkwardly split into two small boxes that leave a lot of wasted space. It can be played both online and offline but I have only played it offline, however I assume the fundamental aspects will remain the same, one player plays as Chris Redfield and the other as Sheva Alomar. Despite my comments that an ally within the game would reduce the feeling of Resident Evil I really enjoyed it, there are many moments which involve cooperative actions to be made and I believe it feels far more satisfying having a friend rather than the AI in these moments since you do not really care about the AI buddy as much as if it was a friend playing.
A memorable moment in the coop was when my mate had to jump to the opposite building to open a door for us to continue but found himself up against waves of enemies and I had to provide sniper cover from across the street.

The gameplay in Resident Evil 5 is very tense and far more combat based then previous games but I like it and am now definitely more looking forward to its release since I know it will be a thrill ride to remember for a long time.

HAWX Demo Impressions
This is another game that I have been looking forward to and I was very pleased to see a demo up on the marketplace this week which was promptly downloaded and played by ME :D I would first like to mention that I am not a flight sim player so my views may vary greatly from those that are more experienced in the genre but I can also comfortably say that the game was rather impressive.

The demo contains 2 levels based in Rio, the first being a training level and the second being a short mission. Straight away it is clear that this is a very pretty game and the models and environment are modelled/textured/animated beautifully and I am aware that I have been saying this about all the games I've played recently but this one is particularly pretty...or maybe I just need to up my standards hah.

The gameplay is quite easy to pick up and play after someone has gone through the training level, the "Assistance Mode" has the ability to guide players in various situations such as dodging missiles or lining up an above shot on a tank in a dense city. These can be very useful for newcomers to flight games such as me but if you are a much more experienced user you can turn off this Assistance Mode which allows more air manoeuvrability and more dog-fighting possibilities. The problem with turning off the Assistance Mode is that the game will require you to play with a rather odd cinematic camera which often hides what is in front of you, I have a feeling that this will receive quite negative feedback from flight sim gamers that prefer the traditional cockpit or front view. Good news is that although Assistance OFF may not offer these views, the Assistance ON offers front view, cockpit view and 3rd person view that can be easily cycled through by clicking LS. Personally I prefer the 3rd Person view, but remember I'm a "n00b" in this genre :P

The combat in HAWX is very satisfying and seeing 4 of your missiles fly out and take down 4 aircrafts at the same time is quite a sight, in the demo there is the option to use one plane with 2 sets of missiles, flares and a machine gun which seem to be customisable in the full game. I found the machineguns quite difficult and inaccurate to use but the missiles are very user friendly and fun to use, they lock on and home-in on the target once fired but this will not guarantee a hit. In the demo you will also be fighting ground and sea troops which all comes together to produce a battle of epic proportions which is very tense but often you are not sure where exactly to go with so many enemies on the map.

Overall HAWX happily reached and possibly surpassed my expectations and I will certainly keep a very close eye on this as it gets closer to release. I may heavily consider purchasing after I see some reviews to give a better scope of the full game, if it scores 8.0 or more this will have to be a buy for me :)

Tune in soon for more posts! :D

Week in Review...and What a Week its Been!

The week kicked off with an extended weekend due to the snowfall around London which provided a much needed rest. Then after returning to school as normal on the Wednesday it wasn't until Thursday when I was greeted by Mr. UPS man who gave me my XBOX360, a fully functional, fixed Xbox! So I assume Microsoft didn't notice my little "tampering" :P

Since I received my Xbox I have downloaded and played the 3 demos I promised I would, F.E.A.R 2, Resident Evil 5 and Halo Wars. My impressions on all 3 will be later in my post but first I have to mention a PC game that a played during my lack of the 360.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay has been one of the best games I have played in quite a while. This game maybe a little dated in graphics when compared to current titles however it definitely stands out with almost everything else. The game is set before the first film (Pitch Black) and follows Riddick as he is put into a high security prison called Butcher Bay, the production value is high and all aspects from the gameplay, level design and characters to the voice acting are top notch. This is a game that really sucks the player into the world and will always have them wondering what will happen next, I know this from experience since I completed the game in 2 rather long sittings :P I guess this just shows how engaging it is as I don't usually do that. The game may not be as long but contains collectables with unlocks such as concept art that may add some replay value yet despite the length it is still a rollercoaster from start to finish and if anyone has not played it yet I highly recommend it since it will most certainly not disappoint.

After playing Escape from Butcher Bay I have swiftly added The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena to my list of games this year since it looks just as good if not better then the first and I'm looking forward to lurk in the dark as Mr. Riddick once again.

My DEMO Impressions

F.E.A.R. 2
Although I owned FEAR on both Xbox and PC I had never completed it so I never found out what happened throughout the game, however I can tell you that you will not need to have too much previous knowledge of the series since the sequel does a good job of explaining what is going on while keeping it engrossing. I can also tell you that this is by far my favourite demo of the 3 I played and I will most definitely be purchasing the game when it comes out.
The game has you playing from a crashed helicopter, through a school and then through some streets, all of these environments are beautifully built and laid out but are very linear. In fact everything within the game looks really beautiful and this is only emphasised when you use your characters slow-motion ability and see the slowed down destruction that you will be inflicting. The game allows you to hold 4 weapons at a time and my main rant about the game is how you must cycle through all your weapons to find the one you want, this can be quite frustrating in the heat of a fire fight when you are being shot at and a button assigned to each weapon would have been good but understandably not possible. That out of the way I really have no other problems with it, except for the fact that it is SCARY AS HELL. You can just be walking down a corridor and crazy stuff will suddenly happen which really adds to the tense atmosphere of the game.

Overall the game really impressed me and I honestly did not believe it would be quite as good. The atmosphere and feel of the game is just right and had me on my toes throughout the demo. Its scary, fun and looks to be one hell of an experience. I will be picking up my copy when it comes out, but if you don't believe me download the demo today and see for yourself.

Resident Evil 5
I have long been a Resi fan since the very first one on the PS so naturally this was the top favourite and I was hyped to play it. But sadly I was quite disappointed, it IS good, it is VERY good and I will definitely be picking up a copy but some things I believe just let it down. Some points in the game didn't even feel much like Resident Evil at all, ammo/grenades are far too common and the addition of a friendly player removes a bit of the survival horror aspect I believe. Resident Evil was about being majority of the time alone with a scarce supply of ammo fighting waves of zombies and relying on skilful headshots to keep them at bay. Having a rather skilful ally which fights with you, heals you and supplies you when your out of ammo seems to rather kill this lone survivor feel. However this alone doesn't bother me too much and I quite like the idea of coop if you have a friend round although I am yet to try that function, BUT my main rant about Resi 5 is.....the INVENTORY.
I am not a big fan of the new real-time inventory system, I understand that it will add nicely to the tention and will take some time to get used to but I just think its too small and basic, I much prefered the big screen from Resi 4 where you could view the map, your inventory and story related documents. But no longer can you stop time, you are now required to switch guns, combine items and even reload while having hordes of ghouls edging towards you. I like the idea of quick change weapons with the D-pad or even the system as a whole as long as it was supported by the primary inventory screen.

Do not make the mistake however of thinking that this will be a bad game, because it will not. It is a great game that is only minorly flawed. The game is beautiful to behold and everything looks good, the combat is solid and the enemies, although occasionally overwhelming, are fun to kill. The environments are still very linear but some locations such as the first level of the demo seems to give quite a variety of options and are fairly open. The 2 levels in the demo both contain bosses which did not seem very satisfying, they only received a brief intro, if any, and they simply died without any special cut scene, however I get the feeling that the levels do not accurately portray the game very well and seem to be a little bit into the game so the difficulty curve may be a bit steep for players new to the series.

Overall I am still highly anticipating the release of Resident Evil 5 and will be pre-ordering my copy soon, but I was not as satisfied with the levels in the demo and I am praying that the inventory system is changed before release.

Halo Wars
Finally my impression of Halo Wars which will only be short because I have not got much to say. I personally am not a big fan of RTS games on consoles but I was interested about this one due to previous coverage and the obvious fact that I am a fan of the Halo series. Upon playing it is clear that it is a very pretty game and it plays very nicely, with quite a few explosions and action on screen I received no slowdown or any technical issues. The story of Halo Wars is based before the first game and expands on the first contact of the Covenant forces on earth. For hardcore Halo fans this is a must since it expands the universe and the story behind the series, there are new vehicles and units introduced which fit well into the Halo universe. The campaign follows just the UNSC forces which I believe is a shame because the addition of a Covenant campaign would have been quite interesting and a bigger draw for fans and gamers alike. However the ability to play as the Covenant is available for multiplayer.

Overall Halo Wars is a good RTS but nothing amazing, this may just be because I do not really play console RTS games however in my opinion it is nothing new that hasn't been done before by countless other Sci-fi RTS games. I won't be purchasing the game but I still appreciate it as a good game, just not a great game.

Thanks for reading my rather long winded impressions of the recent hottest demos and tune in for more posts soon :)

Super UPS Delivery Guy and the Rise of PC Gaming

Story of the 360 Cont.
I sent my Xbox 360 off for repair on Monday due to the silly RRoD problem that occurred 2 weeks ago, but what surprised me was the pick-up speed of UPS.

I called UPS at around lunch time to schedule a pick-up and to my surprise the lady on the phone said that the van would pick it up before 6. This was already a pleasant surprise but after the call while I was watching some Scrubs during my lunch break there was a knock on the door..... THE UPS GUY! Within 20 minutes of my call they arrived at my house and picked up my Xbox :D TWENTY MINUTES! I barely finished my lunch!

I have received an email that my Xbox has arrived in one piece at Microsoft in Germany so hopefully I may get it back in 1/2 weeks. Let's just hope it doesn't get sent back unrepaired due to my little "tampering" lol.

Rise of PC Gaming
Due to the lack of the 360 I have had to turn to my old friend, the gaming PC. This veteran of a machine lives next to my laptop and rarely gets switched on, however during the absence of the 360 it has been booted out of retirement and back into action. I played a few random games that were on the beast including SimCity 4, FEAR and.....Zoo Tycoon 2. Yeh I played Zoo Tycoon don't you judge me! haha.

But I mostly played FEAR since I am quite looking forward to the sequel and since I never completed the first one despite owning it on both the 360 and PC, so I wanted to finish it. Oh and just for the record, I usually finish all my 360 games however on this occasion my FEAR save managed to become corrupted.....TWICE so I gave up.

The machine may be aged but it still managed to trudge through the games I tried on it, but of course nothing near Crysis standard.

Week in Review
This week would have been a great one for XBL due to the great demos that are on the marketplace. These include F.E.A.R. 2, Resident Evil 5 and soon Halo Wars. These will be on the top of my to-play list as soon as I get my Xbox back and I will be posting a (belated) impression of all 3.

Another hot addition this week is the first footage of Final Fantasy XIII. I won't say too much about it but I will say it looks pretty awesome, if you haven't already seen it, Check It Out HERE.

The Story of the Fallen 360

As I mentioned in my last post my Xbox 360 has recently received the RRoD and despite working for a day after using the "Towel Trick" it is quite clearly busted and unusable, which is a shame to say the least.

After it was broken I was quite convinced that I have had my 360 for longer than 3 years so the idea of sending it off to get repaired at a price seemed a little stupid to me, however I could not feel any stupider in my current position.

Since I thought my 360 was out of warranty I brought a few mates round and had a jolly good time opening the poor beast up with a variety of screwdrivers and drill-bits, which may I add Microsoft did not make very easy. We gave up after taking off the shell due to the fact that we lacked the right drill-bit to open the metal casing of the motherboard inside.

It was not until after this that I checked the status of my warranty on the Xbox site, only to find that I have not owned my 360 for just over 3 years but rather just over TWO years. I instantly sent off for a return request to get the RRoD problem fixed for FREE...AS LONG AS the console has "No evidence of tampering or anything else that voids the warranty". Somehow I was pretty sure that peeling off the warranty sticker and opening up the case DID slightly void the warranty.

Yet I had a cunning plan as always! I crudely stuck the warranty sticker back in its place and filed down the blatantly obvious marks at the back of the case where we attacked it with a screwdriver. I now have my 360 all packaged up ready to be collected by Mr. UPS man some time soon.

Let's just hope that Microsoft doesn't return my Xbox unrepaired due to "tampering" and if they do I guess I will just purchase a new 360, possibly the Elite, and wait a little longer until I get my PS3.

Thanks for reading :)

Check back next week for my next post.

First blog entry and Death of my poor ol' 360

Hello and Welcome to my blog! :) I have wanted to start a blog on Gamespot for quite some time but have never really had the time or perhaps even the patience to do so, until now I guess.

I know that my entries I post now will probably not get read by many people but I still wish to post up weekly blog entries if possible. I will talk about my impressions of new gaming news, demos or anything else related and what better topic to start with then the death of my 360 :P

After a long week of study I thought that a nice bit of Guitar Hero would be a nice way to wind down but the idea was short-lived with the arrival of the oh so wonderful Red Ring of Death.

The problem now is that I am not sure what to do. I own the old 20GB version 360 which is so worthless now that there is no point even trying to sell it or repair it since it would probably be better to simply purchase another for a mere £130.

There is yet another alternative that I have been considering more and more over the past few weeks, the PS3. I have owned both the original PS and PS2 but out of the next generation consoles I chose the Xbox 360 due to cheaper price and a more appealing variety of games. However over the months it soon became clear that the PS3 began to be more and more enticing and now I am highly considering a PS3.

The PS3 in my opinion definitely seems like the way forward from now, the more powerful hardware may have deterred developers in the beginning who possibly didn't want to invest lots of time and capital into production of the games but now the tables have flipped and it has become clear to everyone that it is the opposite simply from the high number of PS3 exclusives that are now being developed.

From the current standings I have become quite bored of the rather generic releases on the 360 and I can only watch on in envy as the PS3 gets impressive exclusives such as MGS4, Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet and GT that all take advantage of the powerful hardware and look amazing. On top of this the PS3 contains other multimedia features such as PlayTV and bluray that when put into retrospect really do put the Xbox to shame.

This doesn't mean that I will completely abandon my 360. I like the games i own on the system and I'm connected to quite a few of my friends via Xbox Live, so I may somehow find a way of fixing my Xbox or I might invest in another one but for now I have set my sights on the PS3. Now all I need is a good £300 ....Donations anyone? :P

Stay tuned for more entries soon :D
