HiPlanesDrifter's forum posts
dog64, you made me see the light. It is possible that a user could edit a post and insert a trolling/flaming/spamming remark in the post...

Here's the best example I can explain to everybody else who still doesn't understand why editing is also governed with the 60-second rule.
Okay: without the 60-second rule one could, hypothetically, copy a spam troll post onto their cut/copy/paste clipboard, then go through all 50 or more of their previous posts from days/weeks/months past and "select/paste" change them with a simple right-click from their clipboard.
Going through, one could, edit all their posts in less than a minute if they had a good DSL connection.
Now some obsessive person with hundreds of posts could, theoretically, paste-over and spam up his/her whole posting history in just a few minutes.
Does this justify the 60-second edit rule to you?
It's too bad we have to deal with spammers, but it's a fact of life.
In my opinion, you people with 5-digit post counts should just chill-out and wait-a-minute; even if all your posts ARE excellent.
Because the small bother it causes you should be tolerated in light of the fact that somewhere, some spam-troll spam poster is being thwarted.
There MUST be some reason that edit posting is also governed in this 60-second rule, along with regular posting; and I bet it has to do with spam trolls.
Best regards to the 5-digit post-count people.
This Microsoft support article has tips to perform a clean boot to prevent background programs from interfering with play:
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;331796
It describes how to use a clean boot to start your Microsoft Windows XP computer sothat Microsoft Windows loads only basic devices and services when it starts.
Normally when you use your computer several programs start automatically and run in the background.
These programs may include third-party antivirus programs and system utility programs that may interfere with the game play.
When you perform a clean boot, you prevent these programs from starting automatically.
Warning: disconnect all network connections (DSL/Cable modems)before doing this clean boot, because clean boot shuts down antivirus and firewalls. (so, obviously, you wouldn't use clean boot to run massive multiplayer online games like Guild Wars or other online games; only for offline games like Oblivion, etc...)
Stereo 2.1 is the best compromise. you have your sub-woofer (.1) and your two stereo speakers.
The sub-woofer has a separate volume adjustment on it,so you turn up your regular volume, then reach over and adjust your sub-woofer until you feel it thumping in your chest; great for gaming and music; no need for 5.1 on your PC.
Save 5.1 for your TV/stereo CD entertainment system (my humble opinion, anyway).

Q-tips tend to work well; in conjunction with a vacuum cleaner hose with the finest attachment (and maybe a flashlight); you work like a dentist, cleaning teeth on all fan-blades with your Q-tip then vacuuming away dust bunnies as they are loosened.
My CPU fan gets dust-bunnied up with oily sticky dust-bunnies annually; this causes the balance of the fan (like balancing an automobile tire) to get out of whack; this causes strain on the fan bearings, causing them to whine and howl like that.
Left un-checked for too long, permanent damage to the fan bearings might occur; if it still howls and screeches after a good vacuum-dusting, then you may be forcedinto getting a new fan(s) installed (do it yourself to save money.)
