Honestly , its the same thing every year...
And I CAN say this because I've owned a lot of basketball games , Live 00-02, 2k3,4,5, Live 06, and 2k7,8,and 9
You can still just do crossover moves back and forth till you pass the defender, you can still press the pass button repeatedly and have it end up right infront of the net for a layup, picks arent anywhere near as effective as they are in real life, and the power of a REAL crossover is never shown etc etc
You can see the HUGE leap in Madden from 07 to 08 where 08 just looked way more crisp and had way better gameplay, you can see the leap in NHL when they introduced the skill stick and you were then able to use the analog stick to shoot and get past the defence, Wheres the leap in NBA games..... Yea they introduced the shot stick but who cares, to me it didnt make that much of a difference in how great I thought the game was in the end. I think in Live 09 they have something with the Be A Pro mode but it doesnt matter because the gameplay is still sh*ttt.
Don't get me wrong though 2k9 is a really good game but there isnt a difference from 2k8 or 7 other then the signature moves. Unless I see a "Leap" in the future basketball games I probably won't bother buying them anymore but thats just me.
