10. Dr Guy Secretan (Green Wing)

In the first of 3 appearances from a Green Wing cast member tonight, Dr. Guy Secretan - played brilliantly by Stephen Whatshisface - is one of the show's brilliant leads. An egotistical w*nker he may be, he's also one of the show's brightest sparks and I don't think the Mac/Caroline buildup would have been as interesting if he were involved. Highlights include Geeball and his community service.

9. Cassie (Skins)

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself including a character in this list from a show which started only last week but Cassie so far is a rivetting character and the trailer for this week's episode seems to further prove this. The fact she's been in a mental institute (was it?) and can only eat certain things is definitely something to be explored and I can see her character being the highlight of the show already.
