If you've been living under a rock the past couple of weeks and haven't heard about Mass Effect being attacked on the news I'll enlighten you. Mass Effect has been attacked for having a GRATUITOUS lesbian sex scene that is detrimental to the youth of the world............
Thats basically what I got from watching all of the available coverage (especially on FOX) on the game itself. It's funny because I own the game and I never even got to that scene because I didn't play as a female, so I never knew about it until I saw the mainstream media attack the game for basically being a lesbian porno for kids. Now first of all the scene itself only lasts 45 seconds correct? It took me about 20 hours to complete it so...
20 hours= 72,000 sec.
Lesbian sex scene=45 sec.
45/72,000=.000625%
Wow it makes up a significant chunk of the game!
It makes absolutly no sense that Mass Effect is being attacked for such a microscopic portion of an entire gameplay experience. Now I understand why their attacking it, because of course kids play video games! but while many children have easy access to rated R movies and listen to music with the words Ho and b***h the statistics show that most gamer's are adults. So why would you attack videogames when children don't even make up most of the audience? I just find it outrageous that video games always take the brunt of the punishment in the entertainment industry yet they are still not considered a form of art or artistic expression. Whether it's the situation with Hot Coffee or the sexual nudity in God of War gaming can never get a break from being attacked from all sides. I'm holding out for the day when I'll be able to watch the news and get an idea of whats going on around the world instead of learning more about Britney Spears life or the content inside my video game system.
