RTS style FF sounds interesting, but to me it would depend a lot on how the offline play worked. I played the story mode in Warcraft 3 a lot, but I never went on Battlenet. So if they ever made a RTS game with an interesting storyline, then I think it could be a cool game. The idea of an army of Chocobo Knights is very cool. In some fantasy rts games you have healers/priests and mage/wizards. It would be sweet to replace them with White and Black Mages. And airships as flying units.

...Heh, I think I got a bit carried away.

How could you not take that isht on BNET?!

I played WC3 multiplayer with rl friends a lot and I enjoyed that. I went on BNET a few times, but for some reason it just didn't appeal to me. Most of the people I "met" in games there were incredibly rude too. So I guess what I should have said was "I tried BNET, didn't like it much and never went there again".

I haven't played Legend of Dragoon, so I can't compare. I love the FMV where he turns into his final form though. It was very well made and cool looking. Personally I think his standard human form looks like an evil version of Laguna from FF8. I tend to call him "The Laguna Look-alike".

Ifrit looks awesome! I'm not a big fan of a clown-like Carbuncle but he is still kinda cute. I'm glad they went back to the "good old" summons of the series, instead of the newer ones in FF12.

And on a side note: the pince has some pretty good looking friends. Especially the guy with glasses.

I got the game when it was released in Europe. I didn't even get halfway (Elder Whyrm) before I put the game away and said I'd probably never touch it again. But, something in me wanted to complete the story just because it is an FF game. So after new years I started over again from the beginning, and completed the story. Old save was about 20 hours, and the new one is at about 70 hours. Together that's 90 hours and I probably won't spend more on it. As someone said before me: The game just passed by.

For me it's deffinately MGS4. Me and my bf are buying a PS3 as a christmas gift to ourselves this year, and that is only because of MGS4. I was very dissapointed by FF XII. So much that I never finished it. I hope XIII will be better, but until I get more details about it I will remain sceptic while I wait eagerly for MGS 4.

FF8 was the first FF game I ever played, and needless to say I really liked it (if I didn't I probably wouldn't have bothered to play the other FF games). I know a lot of people think the chracaters are annoying, but I found myself caring for them and wha happened to their world. The music is wonderful, and is the only FF soundtrack I actually bought.

The story can be a bit confusing, true, but in the end it all made sense. I know some people doesn't like FF8's story, because it is mostly a love story. In my opinion it might just be the greatest love story of all time, and the game teaches a valuable lesson: You can't go through life alone. You need friends and loved ones to make you strong.

The battle system was a bit difficult for me to get into at first. The Junction system lets you customize a lot and so does the GF's. I like that the enemies follow your level because that gives you a constant challenge. In other FF games you could end up with very easy boss fights if you had leveled a lot, but in FF8 you don't have to worry about dissapointments like that.

Because there are so many people with so many different tastes, the debate about FF8 will never end. And that goes for all the FF games. I really like FF8, other people may not. In the end it's all up to you what you think of it, no matter what people may tell you before you try it.

larsa looks so m,uch like a girl. i actually thought he was until the reffered tohim as he i was like wtf? they could have at least made him look more manlyjohngebreadman

Hahaha! So did I!

Well, first I would like to say that I love the other FF games. FF XII was incredibly boring, so I didn't even finish it. If the story was less about politics and such and about something more fun and interesting then I would like the game a lot better. In my opinion, any of the other characters would be better main characters. You could follow from the princess' (Ash? I forget her name, sorry) side of the story and get a bit more perspective. Or even better, have Balthier and Fran as the main characters and let the game start with some fun sky pirating before they get caught up in the bigger story.

FF XII just didn't do it for me, I'm sad to say. It was like FF XI offline with a boring story. I also failed to feel anything for Vaan. He looks like he is 12 years old (not that that really matters, I liked Tidus even if he looks like a 15 year old ^_^) and he also had a very bad voice actor that didn't have any emotion.

This post might sound bitter, but that is not my intention. I know many people love FF XII and I have no problem with that at all. I just didn't like it personally and hope that FF XIII will be more like the FF games I have loved over the years ^_^
