It was the beginning of the 1982 Lebanon War. It was at first Israel and the South Lebanese Army versus the Palestinian Liberation Organization and there chief ally Syria and after a few decisive air battles the Syrian Air Force was pretty much destroyed . . . . again . . . for the fourth time. After the Israelis achieved air superiority all of the PLO's tanks and most of there surface to air weaponry had been either been destroyed or captured most of which was supplied by Syria. Iraq tried to send mountain troops, special forces, and fighter aircraft like their new Mirage F1 fighter jets but there attempt to get involved was cut to pieces when Iran decided to launch a counter attack and invade Iraq after their cease fire less than a year earlier. The Iran-Iraq War was going on and after Israel destroyed an Iraqi Nuclear reactor where they were planning to make an atom bomb to drop on Iran the Iranis invaded again to keep Iraq from entering the war.
In this war the Israeli Air Forces newest acquisition really shined. A now infamous fighter jet known as the F-15A Eagle or as the Israeli Air Force calls it the F-15A Baz. It shot down 40 Syrian jets during this war and to this day this remarkable aircraft has an unheard of kill ratio of 104 air to air victories for zero losses.
