[QUOTE="IiIdimsum7"]yup, I feel the same. Sure, there's clever writing, literary devices, and references, but that don't make it entertaining. i read a lot of the posts here, and it seems a lot of the AD fans are seriously pretentious. their attitude comes off as " yea, whoopty doo, i understand the subtlety, therefore i am smart and anyone who don't think the show is great is an idiot!" Shakespeare is much more brilliant than AD, but I bet most of you think it's boring, eh?Cloud_Insurance
Not a single post in this thread does anything of the sort. Merely pointing out that because of the layers and different types of humor used in the show you cant watch it and get the most out of it, unless you pay total attention to it. Its really quite different compared to the vast majority of tv comedies and that is readily apparent to your standard tv watching simpleton.
you're making my point. you think because you're able to enjoy AD that you have some kind of intellectual superiority over others who don't enjoy? you do understand that's what you're implying, right? that's arrogance, you're just a pseudo-intellectual. of course it's different than other comedies, but that doesn't make it good! there are "layers and different types of humor" and I completely understand it. still doesn't make it entertaining, you gotta realize that. My point in talking about Shakespeare is that although it has "layers" and impressive writing, but that doesn't make it entertaining to a lot of people who understand the story and the themes. Now tell me, what makes it good? Anal-rapist? Mr F? The OC Disorder? other gay implications? Mrs Doubtfire? Houdini wannabe tricks? Jumping the shark? Boners? Oscar De La Hoya? Incest? Business ethics? the money is in the stand? GOB's expensive suits? hahahah... yes, all very brilliant (obviously I'm missing more "clever" and "layered" things you consider comedy, but you get my point)
