Got any family members considering purchasing an expensive stand-alone Blu-ray player? They may want to read this article first.

Apparently Criterion Collection (amongst others) use the PS3 as their reference Blu-ray player. You know CC, right? The guys who remaster and improve pretty much every old film you've ever seen?

Let Grandma know she doesn't have to fork over $500 just to watch movies in better quality.

Nintendo's Customer Service section addresses this exact error here.

Hope this helps!

OK, not really. But that's what some people think, according to this article:

http://www.bitburo.net/game-consoles/wii/madworld-draws-heat-from-nanny-state-whiners/

MediawatchUK has condemned the upcoming Wii game from Sega MadWorld, saying that it will "spoil" the console. Apparently John Beyer, director of MediawatchUK, thinks that his lobbying organization should be able to determine which types of games go to which console.

"This game sounds very unsavoury. I hope the British Board of Film Classification will view this with concern and decide it should not be granted a classification.

"It seems a shame that the game's manufacturer have decided to exclusively release this game on the Wii. I believe it will spoil the family fun image of the Wii."

He's also a crusading Christian who wants to make prime time television all about Jesus. I thought people blaming GTA IV for violent crimes were stupid, but this guy is on a whole different level.

I've already sent Mediawatch a letter. Hopefully some of you will do the same.

Anyone actually going to attend BlizzCon this year? It's near enough to me that I could drive, and I do like most of Blizzard's games, but I can't see myself going to a convention for one publisher. E3 would be different -- lots more to see and do. BlizzCon's biggest attractions seem to be the costume contests and goodie bags.

I looked on their site this morning (they started selling tickets today) and each ticket is $100. And according to an article here ( http://www.bitburo.net/game-events/blizzcon-08-tickets-on-sale/ ) they're also going to show TV footage of this as a pay-per-view event??

Who would watch that?

Yeah, honestly it looks like a lot of work, but it also looks like it could be pretty fun. If it even turned out looking half as good as that guy's then I'd be satisfied.

I doubt there's anyone reading this who hasn't seen the Lancer for sale on Amazon. $139.99 and it comes with Gears of War 2, or for an extra ten dollars you can get the Gears of War 2 Limited Edition. It's pre-order, though, and not coming out until Nov 7th.

I found this article on Digg, though, at http://www.bitburo.net/game-consoles/microsoft-xbox/make-your-own-gears-of-war-lancer/ and I plan to make my own. It looks a helluva lot better, and I'll probably have it done before November (.. probably ..). Anyone ever do anything like this before? Tips, pictures?

Anyone planning on buying Amazon's Lancer? $140 just seems steep to me.

I read this article ( http://www.bitburo.net/video-games/the-dark-knight-video-game-still-mia/ )about The Dark Knight, and while I felt the author pretty much covered most of what people were speculating about, I think he/she missed out on one possible reason for the delay in the TDK game release: they're finally making a good movie-to-game title.

Too often video games which coincide with movie releases suffer from rushed work, low product budget, and awful generic gameplay. Maybe EA is taking so long with TDK because they're trying to put something together that not only matches the movie in terms of entertainment but surpasses the previous Batman games in terms of playability (Batman Begins was pretty bleh, in my opinion).

Let's say that hypothetically this is the case. What features are you hoping they include?

Here's my list:
1. Optional role reversal where you can play as The Joker
2. Multiplayer (Xbox Live, etc.)
3. Less cut scenes, more plot development through actual game play
4. Voice acting from the movie cast (this was done in Batman Begins)

What say you?
