Before I start writing this, I want to let everyone know that I'm no fanboy of the PS3 as I also have a 360 and Wii. But I am on the PS3's side to win the console war :P
Anyway, below I'm going to list a few points that Sony should have done to make the PS3 a bit more interesting and perfect. ;)
1) The controller's L2 and R2 buttons are as everyone knows, more like the 360's with the button pushing into the controller's main body. But unlike the 360, the buttons are sloped and I find that sometimes, after holding down on them for reasonably long periods of time, my fingers start to slip off and lose grip. If the had a small edge or curved outward slightly, then maybe I wouldn't have to keep adjusting my fingers. I might be the only one with this problem, but I don't care.
2) When you press the PS button in the centre of the controller, a menu pops up over the disc that's playing. It's similar to the 360's idea but with significant difference. PS3 just says "Shut down console", "Turn off controller" and "Quit the game". (These might not be the actual words, but you know what I mean). If it included more than just the three options above, it would be a tad more interesting. As the 360 did, the PS3 could show what account is signed in on that controller, customize the background to the user's liking and maybe the option to play some music in the background from either hard drive or external plug-in. It all adds together.
3) On the homepage of the PS3 when you first turn it on, it's incredibly easy to go through all your files and find what you want. It's fantastic as it is, but I can see what changes could be made to it. One could be including a box (maybe in the top-left corner) that shows the account's details in it. Such as who's account is active and anything possibly orientated with that profile, maybe showing last few played games or something. I'm not entirely sure.
4) It's online thing going on. Nothing wrong with it. I don't see what the fuss over the 360's Live is all about. It's not "better" than the PS3's. On the latter, I can hop online whenever I feel like it, not waiting to buy another few months every so often. If Sony would introduce similar areas to the 360's (Underground, Pro, Recreation and Family) it would be more fair on players, instead of filthy talkers such as myself mixing with young people such as myself. Oh and a Reputation system would work nicely.
5) I know and so do you probably that Playstation Home is going to rock. It also features a gallery in which you can view any achievements through games. Now I've seen screenshots of this and it looks alright I guess. If they were like showcases similar to ones we have in the real world to show off our medals, but already built in the PS3, so you can look at them straight from the homepage. The 360 has Gamerscore, but the PS3 could count in how many medals you got, which anyone can look at. It's just something which could be a little more nice to the eyes.
I can't really think of anymore right now. Overall, I see the greatest promise out of the PS3 and that it's generally a better console than the other two. I might post my view on the console war with full honesty soon when I have the time. Thanks. Ineor signing out...
