WINDOWS VISTA WILL IN MANY CASES NOT ALLOW YOU TO VIEW HD-CONTENT. Now is that something you people are honestly excited about?? Here is the report: http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html And here is the response from Microsoft's Lead Programmer for Windows: http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsvista/archive/2007/01/20/windows-vista-content-protection-twenty-questions-and-answers.aspx The response from the Windows boss sounded more like PR spin than anything else. There's a huge backlash in the comments left in Microsoft's own Vista blog! Hopefully there will be a strong enough backlash against Vista in the general public for Microsoft to take notice. In the meantime as many people need to become aware of these huge problems as possible. The only way we can put some strong pressure on Microsoft is to use our purchasing power, or lack of. Microsoft will definitely have to reevaluate their position if it starts to effect their bottom line.

PacoL250: "That's what I've been hearing long before Vista was released. Honestly, if this becomes a major issue, keep in mind the consumer drives the market, and if enough consumers decide this impedes their computer experience then M$ will have to change parts of Vista. Granted this may not hurt business users, but the home user is where this OS is directed towards it seems. So in the long run and perhaps even sooner rather than later, the market will fix itself in this regard and product will get better. Besides, XP will be around for a long enough while and enough people will still have it (which means enough updates for XP)." It's already begun to be a major issue. Here is Microsoft's response to that report: http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsvista/archive/2007/01/20/windows-vista-content-protection-twenty-questions-and-answers.aspx The response from the Lead Programmer for Windows sounded more like PR spin than anything else. There's a huge backlash in the comments left in Microsoft's own Vista blog! Hopefully there will be a strong enough backlash against Vista in the general public for Microsoft to take notice. Time will tell. But in the mean time I think as many people need to become aware of these huge problems as possible. The only way we can put some strong pressure on Microsoft is to use our purchasing power, or lack of. Microsoft will definitely have to reevaluate their position if it starts to effect their bottom line.

Vista is hurtin for certain. Don't believe me? Read some of this: http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html Vista was created for the benefit of Microsoft, the RIAA, and the MPAA, at the expense of the user. There's no way in hell I'm going to replace XP with Vista as my primary OS.

This article is absolutely useless. As the article read, Vista is still at least 7 months away from launch... it's in beta phase. What a waste of time...
