I had for the last year the definitely toughest year in my career, due to the effects of the economical crisis that has probably affected us all in a way or another. I work in the financing branch, so the crisis hit us hard so far and there's a big possibility, that the rest of the year will not be at least any easier.
At least on 22nd of June I finally started my summer vacation, so now I should be able to really rest from all the worries and responsibilities and charge my batteries by having fun and doing whatever I want to, without any pressure. Enjoying wonderful summer weather and playing games in the evening from my quite formidable game collection, which I never seem to be able to enjoy as much as I would like to.
So all this sounds absolutely great and very much needed, except it unfortunately will not happen... In fact me and my wife just sold my previous 2 room apartment and bought right away a lovely 4 room apartment in a building that was built in 2003. This means that I have been for the last 2 weeks making all kinds of moving arrangements and doing preparations to the new apartment (assembling loads of new furniture from scratch and installing several quite irritatingly complicated lamp systems). Next Saturday will be in fact the official moving day, so next week goes with packing stuff to moving boxes and already taking some stuff to the new apartment in some huge bags.
Thank God some friends and my uncle are helping with the moving, although my wife is spending her summer in her home country Ukraine, so she will not be here. I in fact volunteered to do the moving without her being here, as by doing it quicker, we can save even 2 months of renting costs, which are quite huge here in the capital area of Finland.
I'm already getting totally emotionally tired of these moving arrangements and also of the fact that there is again adjusting to be made to the new surroundings and people around us. I also just turned 37 on the 1st of July and while thinking of the fact that I'm really becoming old(er), I was trying to get adjusted with the fact that an important part of my youth is not existing anymore. Rest in peace Michael Jackson. You were a true entertainment genius, despite whatever people might think about your personal life. It's tough to realize yet that there will never be a new video with the King of Pop doing amazing dance show with unbelievably catchy rhythms and beats. You surely will be missed MJ.
I don't know if it's a mascohistic feature in me, or a feature of people in general, to start even making more of changes in life when life brought changes to tackle already. I in fact went and just ordered a new gaming rig for myself. Specs: nVidia GTX 295 1792mbgraphic card, Intel Corei7920 2.66GHz processor, NoctuaNH-U12P SE processor cooler, IntelX58 based motherboard, 6GB 1333MHz DDR3 memory, 1000Gb + 1500GbSata hard-drives,DVD-drive with burning capabilities, 700W ATX 2.2 power supply. Monitor will be 24" Wide TFT G2400WD, 2ms (GTG), DVI, HDMI, VGA, 1000:1 and the operating system Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit OEM
The point is to make the newest games work well on my gaming pc, as I'm totally tired of trying to make the newest games work respectably with some complicated gimmicks. I think this rig should be at the moment and for a while quite good. Comments are of course gladly taken.
The new gaming rig is of course a good change in most ways, but I still have to say that I'm already quite horrified of the amount of time that will go for me to install all the games and programs that I want to have on the new computer. And even the thoughts of the amounts of patches and problems with them is already quite upsetting...
I guess all these changes were after all quite inevitable and you could call them even superficial and materialistic, at least from most parts. I understand that many people are at the moment going through much more dramatic changes in their lives. Especially if the changes concern problems with health or the losses of loved ones. I guess I should remember to be thankful and happy about just celebrating a few weeks ago my mom's 60th birthday, and also about the fact that all these changes in general are leading to something better in the long run.
But how to learn to see the good things that we get through so many changes and to be able to adjust with the not so good things too? And how to learn to enjoy the results of some good changes and not get too much sucked in with the other new changes right away? These are challenges that I still definitely need to learn better to deal with.
Maybe for a change I will play Wii Fit and try to relax with it while trying to make good change to the amount of my extra kilograms. Or maybe for a change I go out and have a nice long walk on the seaside in the lovely summer weather...
