Shenmue II: (DreamCast/Xbox)
Shenmue II is the massive and highly addictive sequel to the Shenmue game in the Dreamcast console. The huge storyline makes this game simply a must have. There's a vast world to explore, where you can talk to every person and discover any part of the area you want. Shenmue II starts directly after Shenmue I with you (Ryo Hazuki) being dropped in Aberdeen, Hong Kong off a ship. The story is simple, Ryo plans to avenge his long lost father. But as the storyline proceeds, the plot becomes more complex. The graphics are great for the Dreamcast. Fantastic details and visual effects throughout Hong Kong. The sound in this game is also brilliant, you walk through the streets and hear the constant street life during the day, and a few people chattering in café's throughout the night. The mini games are also fantastic. Placing bets on a huge variety of games such as darting. All in all, Shenmue is a fantastic game with brilliant graphics and superb sound effects. Halo 3: (Xbox 360)
Not only has it has surpassed my expectations by far, but it has made a revolutionary masterpiece for the 360. The brilliant gameplay and tons of new modes makes the game probably the best in it's series. Not to mention the smooth storyline and fantastic graphics to complement with it. Halo 3 has just raised a whole new level for shooting games worldwide. The extra features such as the fun-filled Theater and Forge modes keep the game delightfully enjoyable even after finishing the Campaign. The multiplayer feature has also enhanced the potential of the ambitious game even more. One of the amazing things about this loyal shooter, thanks to the magnificent new amount of abilities one can perform, is the wide range of choices. Whether bashing your way through infideous hordes of aliens in melee or smashing through them with the mongoose is entirely your choice. The Campaign mode, whether playing it alone or Cooperative, is extremely fun and challenging. Espeically in the higher difficulty. In conclusion, this shooter game stays loyal to the amazing Halo series and has kept me playing it constantly.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360/PS3)
The fourth installment of the greatly popular Elder Scrolls series and the sequel to Morrowind. This game has a vast landscape that'll will take about weeks to fully explore. The weather is highly realistic, ranging from all kinds of weather such as rain, snow,
wind and more. Life-like towns make you feel right there giving you the ability to stroll and attack anybody in the city, get arrested, be congratulated by people, go to the arena, steal almost anything and so much more. Gamble some money in the arena or even you're life as you become a contestant and take place in challenging battles to test your resolve. Join different guilds depending on your abilities. Wave Race 64: (Nintendo 64)
In my opinion, Wave Race 64 was and still is the best racing game ever created. Outstanding visuals and fantastic gameplay makes splashing through water a fun filled experience. The controls of the game is so shockingly easy, you can get the hang of the game in no less then an hour.
The graphics are purely brilliant. Course designs are well made with beautifal water effects. The scenery is stunning, whether playing in a sun filled stage or nightfall, it will always remains magnificent. There are 4 modes for one to enjoy, the Stunt Mode, Time Trials, Championship Circuit and of course the Versus mode. Each and every one of them is immensely enjoyable and exciting. But I seem to find the Stunt Mode the most fun from the three. Peforming somersaults, barrel rolls and so much more off
ramps are just brilliant! The Time Trial gets you to complete the desired course as fast as possible. Getting you hooked and struggling to break your own or buddy's record. The Championship mode is the main mode of the game. From 4 difficulties to choose from, you have to complete the given stage and be the best at it. The Versus mode however is simply brilliant if you have a couple of friends to go head to head with.
All in all, Wave Race 64 is a stunning addition to N64 games and will get you hooked for hours on end.
Killer Instinct:Gold (Nintendo 64)
Mix fresh graphics with amazing fast-paced fighting gameplay and you get an explosive mixture, that which is Killer Instinct Gold. The smooth sound details are quite good, but the source of fun is the gameplay. Such amazing fighting sequences performed by every character makes the game delightfully fun. Fantastic fatalities and superb Ultra's are perfomed brilliantly in the game. A vast range of characters with completley different ways offighting skills are made brilliantly for every players tastes and desires. From a fast paced button-mashing attacker like 'Kim' to a slower, close ranged, complex and powerful striker like'T.J Combo'. There's a character to suit everyone and their fighting needs.
Perfect Dark (Nintendo 64)
With an EXCELLENT story, long story mode, a huge range of weaponry,co-op mode and an addictive (up to 4) multiplayer mode. The superb and fast paced gameplay makes Perfect Dark extremely addictive. A few framerate problems may occur, nevertheless the shooting always seems action-packed and intense. A huge variety of weapons with 50+ to choose from. Fantastic controls with the N64 analog makes you fight your way through enemies like a breeze. The campgain mode is enormously long and has an in depth storyline that seems extremelyinteresting. Go alone or head to head in Co-op throughout the whole campgain. The voice acting is also polished and well formed. The multi-player mode is also fantastic, adding intelligent AI, suited to your level, controlled bots to the scenario. Choosing their looks, weapons and difficulty. Choose the weapons and map of the scenario from a vast range of choices. The maps are vast and seem well detailed with large regions to roam around.
The challenges are also immensely addictive. It starts off easy, but as one proceeds through it, it becomes extremely tough. Giving tasks so challenging only the most advanced players can complete.
The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Nintendo 64)
Majora's Mask is a fantastic experience and a fantastic addition to the The Legend Of Zelda series. The game has similiar 'user-friendly and smooth' controls to it's prequel. Even if you haven't played Ocarina Of Time, you still can get the hang of this game in quite a short time. The only similarites this game shares with it's prequel is probably the controls and maybe the menu interface, but that's about it. Other then that, the rest of the game is a whole new experience.
The main storyline revolves around Clock-Town, a massive and interactive citadel that is most likely the source of most of the missions in the game. The main idea of the game is the masks you collect. Each mask has a different but yet useful aspect towards the game. I'm not going to dive into the details, but some few examples are the Goron mask and the Zorro mask. When Link wears the Goron mask, he transforms into a specific Goron and has all the traits of a Goron, such as brute strength and incredible speed. The same with the Zorro mask, which also transforms Link into a specific Zoron and gives him all the traits of a Zorro. Of course, there are many more masks that do not transform the bearer, but have other but yet less signicant abilities then the main ones.
There are a huge variety of masks to obtain, ones that follow the main quest and others optional. The fighting of the game is pretty superb, similiar to it's prequel but with new sequences. All new weapons and shields are also available in Majora's Mask, with their own unique designs and suited forms. The graphics of Majora's Mask is absolutley fantastic with amazing textures and brilliant environments, making the graphics a definite improvement from Ocarina Of TIme.The sound system of Majora's Mask is also fantastic. Listening to barely anything in the night apart from chirping crickets to the hustle and bustle of merchants and kids playing around in the day.
All in all the main quest is extremely fun to play through, with lots of additonal side quests to keep you enjoying the lengthy game till the end. This game is an amazing experience and can be said as a worthy sequel to the beloved Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64)
When I first inserted Super Mario 64 into my N64, I just knew I was playing pure gold. The first thing that caught my eye was the colourful but yet amazing graphics. Come to think of it, the game still looks quite good today (keeping in mind that it came out in 1996)!
Fantastic environments and brilliant looking enemies. Super Mario 64 had kept me incomplete awe. Super Mario 64 is the first Mario game in 3D, and they performed an amazing job.The next thing I noticed was the way the character moved with the environment, or better called as the gameplay. It was actually quite simple to get the hang of, but extremely fun all the same. The camera, however, takes some time to get used to. But other then that, the game is simply flawless.
Super Mario 64 is a must have for all Nintendo 64 owners, whether platform lovers or not. The very length of the game is enormous, with 120 stars to acheive. The game will take no less then about 90 hours to complete, which is a good thing considering the amazing fun I had playing this game.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
Ocarina of Time has taken 'Role-playing' onto a whole new level. The fantastic graphics, superb storyline and massive gameplay makes Ocarina Of Time simply 'revolutionary' to the gaming world.
The storyline of the game is purely superb. It revolves around Link in his early ages, the game is set in a world called Hyrule which a cruel man known
as Ganandorf plans to rule and overcome. In depth dailouge and interaction keeps the storyline alive. The storyline pulls the gamer into vast adventures and fantastic journeys that is sure to awe anyone. The gameplay of the game is simply outstanding. Perfect controls and smooth movement makes playing Ocarina Of Time addictive. The Lock On mode on enemies helps narrow glitches and makes fighting simply a breeze. Fantastic slashes and brilliant strikes made on toughopponents is sure to excite you over and over again. The in depth gameplay experiences and features has surely put Ocarina Of Time in a world of it's own. Boss fight's are also challenging and extremely fun. Each Boss has it's own unique way of fighting, and of course have their own weaknesses.
The marvelous graphics of the game has really tested and pushed the limits of gaming history. Superb textures and amazing details in a massive 3D environment make the graphics, simply put, special. The scenery of the game is outstanding, not mentioning the magnificent character complexion, which seems to have a slight 'anime' look. The sound system in the game is just brilliant to hear. Either the melodius tunes played by the Ocarina,or the highly realistic hustle-and-bustle of Hyrule town. The source of fun in the game is the main quest which is challenging and very lengthy, with loads of side quests to complement with it.
In conclusion, Ocarina of Time will be written as one of the best games to come out ever. Simply put, this game has made history in the gaming empire!
