AP World History and other things that lay waste to nations.

Thus far I think I have compiled about 600 pages of work for AP World History, and the class is not over. I've had to say that the work load has paid back sizeable dividends, strange though they are. Who else can hold discussions over Forms or Ideas with their friends, as we weave our conversations between the shape of the universe and the existance of a God? Who else can look at the news and compare what is happening with the Sassanid Empire? Who else spends 20 hours a week doing homework for one class?

Oh, in other news, I bought The Wind Waker for GameCube and I am totally blown away by the detail Miyamoto put into this game. The visual style is striking and stunning. And the combat engine feels great, though the massive L button is not as smooth to press as the Z of the venerated Nintendo 64 controller.

And most importantly, today I started reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Go get it. Right now. It is the early nineties.

Medieval II: Total KICKASS

In what has been perhaps the best day of the year (Just skip the rest of 2006 for me), not only am I flying to another island to surprise my girlfriend with jewelry and French romance films and bass playing, but Creative Assembly has announced Medieval II. I spent most of Freshman and Sophomore years playing that game until the CD melted and was permamently grafted into the disc drive. Then I pryed it out for Viking Invasion. Rome was good, but just imagine...okay, not too much though. You may rupture a blood vessel, as I did.

If The Smashing Pumpkins get together once more, I will die today. I will just have a heart attack and die. And I will have never been happier.

The Arcade Fire

More shameless advertising. Anybody reading this post, stop what you are doing right now and try to find some Arcade Fire music. Go out and find their records or pirate some stuff. Holy crap. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the most dynamic band I have ever heard. The Polyphonic Spree meets The Velvet Underground meets Bjork meets eleven thousand tons of bliss mingled with kickass. Just stop. Go find some. Now.

The Philosophy of Andy Warhol

I have had the privelage of reading quite a few good books in my albeit brief but poignant life. But if I could shuffle through the Library of Congress for one book to recommend to everybody in the entire world, that book would be The Philosophy of Andy Warhol.

You probably aren't familiar with this title. You might not even be familiar with the man himself. Well, allow me to explain.

The Philosophy of Andy Warhol is the greatest book of all time. Andy Warhol is the greatest artist of all time.

That pretty much sums it up.
