My PC Gaming Rig

Since I said in my first blog post that I am primarily a PC gamer, I thought I'd post the specs of my rig.

  • Case: Ultra Grid - I love this case. It's got lots of room to pack stuff in, but the front is nice and clean.
  • Motherboard: Intel BOXDP55WB - Not a hardcore gaming mobo, but a nice solid product.
  • CPU: Intel Core i7 860 - Plenty fast for me.
  • Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 - EVGA I think. Plays Dragon Age and Starcraft II just fine thankyouverymuch.
  • RAM: Corsair XMS3 8GB DDR3 - Gotta love 64bit OSes.
  • Sound Card: SoundBlaster x-Fi.
  • HDD: Seagate 160GB SATA x2 in a RAID0. No data on this box, so I'm not concerned about the higher failure possibility.
  • Power Supply: ThermalTake 1000W
  • Speakers: Logitech Z680 THX 5.1
  • Monitor: Asus VH242H - 24-inch widescreen.
  • Keyboard: Microsoft Natural 4000
  • Mouse: Kensington Expert Mouse - Actually a trackball. Yes, I game with a trackball.
  • Optical Drive: A generic DVD-RW of some kind
  • OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I've also got a couple of other random peripherals that I use on a regular basis.

  • WolfKing Warrior - A round gaming keyboard that I use for role-playing games
  • Logitech G13 Gaming Keyboard - Haven't played with this too much yet.
  • Microsoft Webcam

Holy $%^&, I finished one.

Well I finally finished Fable II and have moved on to Fable III. Completing this game marks a milestone for me. It's the first game that I've actually finished. No matter how good the game is, I usually get bored and move on. Unless it's Oblivion on PC, in which case I keep adding on mods to and running off away from the main story. Fable II was a great game and I need to go back to finish some of the side quests. The ending was kind of ... eh. Oh well, I'll make an appearance in the Knothole Island DLC to resurrect my dog some time soon and I suppose I need to get started on my real estate empire.

I'll post more on Fable III soon.

Yay, another blog.

What a big week for releases. Obviously, Fable III and Force Unleashed II were the biggies, but there were 20+ other titles that we all had to deal with here. From Smackdown to the Sims, it was a blast.

In my gaming world, I'm still playing my way through Fable II and hope to finish up so that I can get to playing III. I played the original Fable on the first xBox (xBox classic?) and I love the franchise. I kind of like the idea of starting out as little kid and steering your character towards good or evil is appealing. I'm very curious to see how this is implemented and expanded in the third outing of the game. I've also heard about a way to import your character from Fable II into Fable III. Since the new game takes place over a hundred years after, I wonder how this will work.

I need to get Alan Wake and Bayonetta finished up too. As I said in my profile, I do most of my gaming on the 360 and PC, but since I'm much more heavily involved in the PC gaming side of things, I think I'll do another post on that.

Man, this is a crappy first blog post, but what do you want?I don't write about games for a living, I sell them.
