Or you could just go on eBay and buy one.

Wrong, Gamecube made a profit in the end, just not what Nintendo was aiming for.
Nope
What you're saying is an old wives tale, much like rubbing butter on a burn
I don't know if gamecube made a profit (selling that tankly technical marvel for $99 for so long screams no to me), but Nintendo overall made a profit that generation.
No they didn't.
The Gamecube was a cancer for the company not only giving Nintendo it's first financial loss ever but also eroding things like R&D and Nintendo's internal infrastructure.
Without the DS to save the company the Gamecube was going to be responsible for killing the company.
Well, I speak as someone who isn't a game reviewer or an industry insider like Jaysonguy appears to be, but it seems to me that the Gamecube didn't perform nearly as badly as you're saying.
Heck, this article from 2012, posted by Forbes, says that Nintendo managed to turn a profit every year since the company's inception until fiscal year March 2011 - March 2012. That was Nintendo's first annual financial loss ever.
I would agree that the Gamecube didn't perform nearly as well as Nintendo would have liked, and that the DS helped recoup a lot of those poor sales late in the system's run. But nearly responsible for killing the company?
And let's not forget, the Gameboy Advance also sold pretty well.
Facts: Something you can't argue with, and something Jaysonguy doesn't have. I've detected severe biases in his posts as of late.
As of late? He's easily the biggest troll on the GS Nintendo forum.
You guys do know that you don't have to buy it on Day 1, right?
They're charging full price because there's a ton of PS4/XBone gamers itching for something new to play. If it doesn't sell, the price will drop.
But it will sell.
Bought one just today, actually. The Zelda bundle. After seeing the launch lineups for the PS4 and X1, I decided to wait, and get a Wii U now.
@YearoftheSnake5:
Now if Sega were to say partner with Nintendo and develop a new Dreamcast than Nintendo would pick back up.
Dreamcast, now THERE is a system people are too damn nostalgic over. That system was a disaster for Sega and should be looked at as a "what not to do" when launching a console.
Such as launching at a reasonable price point, being at the forefront of new tech (built-in console online play), and having almost nothing but amazing and innovative software? Yeah, no one should ever do that again.
Dreamcast was doing just fine until Sony blew their doors off with most people's first DVD player.
My town has two Gamestops. I went into the one in the mall today, while on my lunch. Guy at the counter is shooting the shit with some dude about the PS4 and Xbox One, meanwhile a line of 5+ people has formed, not getting helped at all. I got fed up with waiting and left.
After work, I drove to the other GS in town, because I had a buy two get one free coupon I wanted to use. Didn't get greeted, didn't get asked if I needed help, nothing at all. Lapped the store twice, no acknowledgement. Left without buying anything.
Earlier this week, I tried to buy Dragon's Crown for my Vita. Guy had NO idea what it was, and then told me they didn't have it. My reply was "you have one on the rack, right there". His reply, "oh...yeah. We have that."
