I'm in my 30's and personally don't care for the Wii controllers. I've always been a PC gamer myself with the 'casual' game with my 9 year old son(Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, MarioKart etc). My son is 9 and he loves his Wii. All of his friends have them and they all love them too. Several guys I work with actually have PS3 and play online together in COD, NHL 09 etc and have been asking me to get a PS3 as well. I mentioned this to my son thinking he'd be overjoyed to get a new console in the house(along with the already present DS Lite, GBA, N64, NGC, & Wii). When I mentioned getting a PS3, he put his hand on my shoulder, looked me straight in the eye and said "Dad, we're a Nintendo family, I don't really think we need a Sony product here do you?" Funny stuff.

I definitely think the Wii is geared towards the younger gamer mostly and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. i've tried to play CoD and MOH on it and didn't care for it at all but that's just my opinion. I'll take a gamecube controller OR a keyboard and mouse anyday.
