I enjoyed the gameplay but you couldave replaced the characters with featureless dolls and it wouldent have changed a thing... plus the story just was not as amazing as most FF's I mean this one was about a country where in most other FF's your saving the entire world/universe. But again, I enjoyed the gameplay.

I liked FFVIII"s gameplay thanks to all the customization with junctioning and with GF's. Another thing I liked is no matter how you played the game, you would be fine, whether you used your drawed spells or not, and if you used them more for customizing or for attacking. I didn't find drawing all that bothersome, I was able to find a nice balance. I would use the spells to increase stats alot, but I woukd still use spells, too, if I felt like it or needed to, I never used spells too much nor did I never use them. Some battles I would do alot of drawing, many battles I did minimum amounts of drawing, and some I never drew, I never made drawing a constant and tedious thing to do in every battle. I didn't mind the GFs at all, either, some summon animations were long, but I don't care, because I liked many of the GFs designs and animations and there were some unique ones, as well. The story and plot themselves were meh, but I enjoyed it more thanks to the characters. Sometimes they were annoying, sure, but I always was interested to see what would happen to them next and see how they would develope, if at all.DJ-Lafleur

I would have to agree, VIII was one of my favorites it was very innovative and dosent follow any of the patterns of the other FF's

I'd say it depends on what you want right now, If you want a longer playthrough with a quick battle system I would say VIII but if you want the cartoony goodness and advanced classic style battle system I would go with IX, and Im assuming you've beaten them both already?
