We'll see. It'll be tough but this could maybe work if they make it a retro throwback film. Just don't take it too seriously. This is just my opinion, but I'm not sure people will resonate with it if they take it too seriously. Something like this feels like it should be... campy fun? If they're going to do it I think that's what they should aim for.
I get that she's old and doesn't realize how what she's saying is wrong, but she's still wrong. The things people like, enjoy, and cherish aren't a measure of maturity. If anything, acceptance and respect for the things others enjoy is a greater measure of maturity.
She encourages people to enjoy the works of Charles Dickens instead, seemingly unware of the hypocrisy of her words. I doubt she'd appreciate it if I told her that it's time to move on from his works. After all, while they were great and generally considered literary classics by this points, it's been 150 years! "It's time to move on!" as she said. Of course, that's a really stupid argument to make because there's really nothing wrong with people enjoying his works for their entire lives. I just wish she could see her hypocrisy in saying that others need to stop enjoying something they've enjoyed their entire lives.
So, this would be one of those things that I found hilarious as a kid, but now... it just sort of feels uncomfortable. I don't think it's a gag worth any real outcry one way or another, but personally, I won't be sad to see it go. ...Not that I've watched the Simpsons in a good long minute though, so I guess the point is moot.
What a transparently greedy pack of lies... Everything he said is a self-justifying excuse. I'd actually respect it more if he would just boldly come out and say, "Because I think I deserve more money." Still a scummy outlook, but at least it'd be honest.
That's some real life, "I'm altering the terms of our arrangement. Pray I do not alter them further," stuff right there. Is it even legal to accept contract fees and then retroactively and unilaterally alter the contract to have everyone owe you more money? Maybe I'm naive, but I don't see this going through, and whether it does or not, I expect a lot fewer people are going to be choosing to use Unity in the future. A competitor will appear to take their place and make bank off of this folly.
I know it's not easy to make a stable and versatile engine, but when this is the alternative I fully expect someone to do it. Unity just shot themselves in the foot, and I'll be surprised if they're not on the way out after this.
