Portal 2 has an amazing story, most of the plot details are hidden in the dialouge and in the environment and require a lot of digging from the player, so not many people see it. It can really drag you in.

But Bioshock probably wins. :lol:

There's nothing with starting with the second game however you will miss out on a lot of decisions that you can make in the first game which will affect both the stories of ME2 and ME3 slightly. Bioware makes these decisions for you if you haven't played ME1. It doesn't help that all of the standardised decisions the game forces onto you are pretty bad as well :\.

I started at ME2 and had a lot of fun however it would have been better with an ME1 import.
