first off, i apologise for bumping a 5 month old thread but i didnt want to make a new thread.
i have a similar question. im looking to get the HIS Hightech Radeon X1950PRO 512MB AGP to finally upgrade my aging Gateway Comp from 5 years ago (which has a old NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128mb). I have a Pentium 4 Northwood Core 2.8Ghz CPU. i dont plan on upgrading my CPU. i also have 512mb of ddr ram in this rig but im gonna get 2 more gigs sametime i get a new vid card. and a new psu cause this rig only has a 250W PSU.
if you suspect that my CPU would bottleneck this GPU then ill consider getting a older and cheaper GPU maybe a NVIDIA 6800GT or Radeon 9 Series card. also i plan on gaming at 1024x768 res.
and dont suggest getting a new comp cause i just did (C2D E6750 2.66Ghz,2gb RAM, 8800GT), im justing doing a small upgrade to this one to "extend the life" of the system and use it as a secondary rig.
