I thought I would write this because my younger sister is taking the SAT tommorow too. I just have to say this with regards to the SAT: You either have it, or you don't. What I mean by this is, some people are just better at taking standardized tests than others. An example of this is me. I did well on the test, I scored a 1520 out of 1600 (this was back in the ancient times when the writing section was separate, now the test is out of 2400). How did I prepare? By getting a good night's sleep the night before the test!
I honestly never, ever opened a single SAT practice book in my life - nor have I ever even done a single practice problem for that matter. The only thing that I did which could be considered preparation was the PSATs (which I was forced to take). My closest friend in high school, on the other hand, always had his face buried in practice books. He also made flash cards of vocabulary words and did all kinds of crazy (and in my opinion, unnecessary) things to prepare. I would often tease him about that, lol... Anyways, he ended up doing okay, 1200-something out of 1600. He was very disappointed at the result, and considering the amount of effort he put into preparing, rightfully so. We were both virtually identical in terms of grades - mostly B's and some A's, NEVER anything lower than a B- I just happen to be better at standardized tests... In the end, it did not matter at all. We both ended up at good universities (he actually ended attending a school that was ranked slightly higher than mine according to US News & World Report) and for this summer we both have internships at investment banks (I will be at Goldman Sachs, he will be at Lehman Brothers).
So you see, the SAT isn't everything. If you manage to take away anything from this rant of mine, it would be to: RELAX, DON'T WORRY, AND PLEASE, PLEASE GET A GOOD NIGHT'S REST. I cannot stress this last part enough. Another one of my friends pulled an all-nighter the night before the test to study, and he ended up doing very poorly (below 1000 out of 1600). Also, eat a good breakfast the morning of the test. THIS IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT!
Best wishes and good luck to you all!

there's no way in heck you got a 1520 w/out studying. either you're lying, or you're lying. bill gates got a 1590 and paul allen got a 1600, because those guys are giant studyfreak nerds. OR maybe you're parents force you to study
