1080i is best for still pictures, 720p is basically what is used for movies and games, 1080 p is basically the best of both worlds, the clarity of a 720 p video, and the crytal clear still images of 1080i. plus i got a 65 inch sony tv also, full 1080 p, and i fiddles around with the other resoultionns, 720p and 1080 p are basically hand in hand as far as video goes.
