[QUOTE="tormentor313"][QUOTE="KHAndAnime"] You can tell the difference for sure. WushuFighter

do a blind test and get back to me.

He is correct when it comes to high end equipment. The first thing to suffer in music from either low quality or bad equipment are percussion instruments because of their highly dynamic nature.

cymbals are also a problem area for all lossy codecs

it's crunkcore... that says it all right there

i'd rather listen to some noisegrind like Intestinal Disgorge (i would only willingly do that if the choice was noisegrind or crunkcore)

as long make good music, you could call your band "Dick Delicious and the Tasty Testicles" for all I care

Wolls
I think there already taken :(

doesn't mean jack... alot of bands use the name Mayhem but there's only one that matters...

[QUOTE="Jim7"][QUOTE="auron_16"]Appetite for Destruction~ Guns 'n Roses :xchaplainDMK

GNR is not metal is 2009 new enough for ya? Immortal - All Shall Fall Gorgoroth - Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt Wolves in the Throne Room - Black Cascade Mantic Ritual - Executioner Destroy Destroy Destroy - Battle Sluts

Why not, ive seen softer bands and are still being considered metal.

Well i guess not ere. :D
Apetite was an awsome album, no matter the genre :D

simply because GNR is hard rock and not metal

though sometimes remasters do come out better than the originals... though most often only the remasters coming from audiophile labels like MFSL and DCC are handled properly for every DCC and MFSL remaster there are a couple dozen remasters with the dynamic range destroyed by clipping and compression and a metric ****ton of albums that are getting their initial release with wall of sound mastering

Hate to bump after a few months but it needs to be said... They had excellent equipment available back in 1988. What equipment was used at the studio this was recorded at at the time I don't know but it's a simple fact someone could record a band using top of the line equipment and result in bad sound while someone else could record the same band using budget mics and a cassette 4 track with a better sounding result. Recording equipment is only as good as the engineer operating it. As far as CD releases they are as follows: 1988 Under One Flag 1990 Maze/Kraze 1993 Black Mark 2003 Black Mark remaster I have access to both the Under One Flag and Maze/Kraze releases... the distortion is present in both and i assume the 1993 Black Mark re-issue is the same. An interesting note is the Maze/Kraze issue is not the same in the audio as the Under One Flag release as it's volume is ~3db lower and it maintains peaks that are not found in the Under One Flag release and that CD seems to be mastered using the old standard of having the highest peak in the audio at 0dB. There is one isolated peak that reaches that level the rest of the audio peaks around -3dB where the Under One Flag release seems to have most of it's peaks at close to 0dB, but zooming in on idividual peaks shows no clipped peaks so I assume some light compression/limiting was used for that release. When listening to the two versions side by side after volume matching there's no discernible difference. I would love to get a hold of the Black Mark releases to compare them... if anyone is curious how to know if a Black Mark issue is the remaster or not I have seen scans of the remastered edition and it has the year (2003) on the back as well as on the disc itself
