D@^^n Microsoft

Microsoft has recently announced that they are making a Halo RTS. Now their canning of Halogen makes a little more sense, but their thinking is still far off.

Halogen is a mod for a dated computer game, Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour. Anyone who has played, or seen, the games knows that it is old in its visuals. Therefore it would not steal many purchases from Mircosoft's new game. Few people who would buy a brand-new next-gen RTS would instead settle for a mod for an old game. In fact the mod would have opened people's eyes to the possibilities of a Halo RTS.

Secondly, Halo Wars, is strictly an Xbox 360 title, no PC version. Halogen, on the other hand, was strictly for the PC, no version for any console. People playing Halo Wars have need to have a 360, this means the PC gamers playing Halogen would not detract highly from the purchases of Halo Wars, as they are less likely to have a 360. Now people wanting to play a Halo RTS need to either buy a very expensive gaming system, or go without.

Go to www.youtube.com and key Halogen in to see videos of the now-dead Mod, sure it looks pretty cool, but would it have been competition for Halo Wars?

I personally don't think so, but now we will never find out.
