Thanks for being civil wildflower and 8-bitt its clear that if i bought the game "again" and in-front of you you'd still be trying to resolve this problem by saying "BUY THE GAME hurr". It obvious 8-bitt you're just not capable of understanding and please read carefully i stated that i very rarely use GFWL so i would not be constantly changing username and due to the rare occasions i use GFWL i created a NEW email address so i could save my main email address from possible spam mails from GFWL. One thing i will take away from this is to take better f***ing care of the pieces of paper i use to write down the information on but its clear i'm not going to get any useful information here so i will find some other way to resolve this issue so i will no longer be monitoring this forum topic as its a waste of time. Again thanks wildflower for showing some civility good to know not everyone here is an angry virgin :). Best of luck.
Ah i forgot to mention that i'd like if people did not jump to stupid conclusions and make the stupid mistake of taking there own assumptions as fact like nibroc has done here. I bought the game because i believe the people that have put the time, effort and money into making the game deserve the fruits of there labour. The reason why i don't remember the GFWL info is because i rarely use it and almost always have the auto sign in, which means there is a large period of time were i do not type in the GFWL info, which increases the chances of forgetting the GFWL details seeing as i don't have to remember the password to re-sign in due to auto sign in. I also hate giving out my main email due to unwanted emails so i created and used a separate e-mail (which i lost the paper that i wrote the GFWL e-mail on) for things that i don't plan on using very much such as GFWL. Combine the large amount of time auto signing in with reformatting my computer means i'm in this situation. Be assured i'm the type that supports the games he plays .Would be grateful for useful responses thanks :).
Hey all, firstly I'd like to apologies if i'm writing this topic in the wrong place, i'm fairly new to this website and still learning the ropes. So basically i'll start from the beginning, i downloaded dark souls prepare to die edition and put a large amount of time into my character. Then i made a backup of my save file by copying the file from Documents > NBGI > DarkSouls > [my username] due to the fact that i had to reformat my computer. After a while i decided to re-download dark souls prepare to die edition and started playing the game again and pasted the save file to Documents > NBGI > DarkSouls > [my username] to continue playing on my character. But when i started the game it stated that the save file has been corrupted. Refusing to be defeated like this i turned to google and came across information on forums (including this forum) that due to GFWL (games for windows live), your save file is bound or locked to the GFWL game tag or ID that was used to create the save file. My problem is that i don't know or remember the GFWL gamer tag or ID that i used to play my character on. So my first question would be, is there a way to find out my GFWL information i used to play with, with just my backed up save file ? My second question would be is there some sort of programme out there that will "repair" or alter my backed up save file in some manner so that it will work with the new installation of my dark souls prepare to die edition and or a new GFWL gamer tag or ID ? But i do not know name of the old GFWL folder and file name seeing as i reformatted the computer and had no idea i would need this information just to transfer save files. If there is anyone that can help me resolve this problem i would not only be extremely grateful for your help but you would also become a legend in my eyes and i will tell my children and my children's children of the great tale of how [name of whoever helps me fix this] saved many many hours of dark souls prepare to die edition game play and as a result saved a part of my soul.
