JohnPraser Blog

Barely any comments on my blog...where did everyone go?

I've made 2 recent blog posts, and yet I've seen no comments...and yet for some of the unknown users of GS, I often see around 10 comments on average per blog post for them, but for me, it's 3 on average...which is pretty small...

And lately, my 2 recent blog posts have received...guess what?

I think it's pathetic how nobody visits my profile nor comments on my blog...I mean seriously, it's "pathetic".

Broncos win against Ravens!!

Denver wins, 13-3

My favorite team in the NFL, the Denver Broncos, have finally ended Baltimore's winning streak.  I'm happy because it shows how Denver can handle tough teams like Baltimore, and since Denver still managed to beat them, they're now an AFC power.  My next hope is at least hope Denver makes the playoffs, and hopefully make the Super Bowl, and the best hopefully, win it.  If Denver can beat Indianapolis this season (they face them sometime during the regular season), they'll be for sure the AFC team to fear, and I mean "fear".

Although Plummer only threw for 106 yards, 1 INT, and 1 TD, all that really mattered to me was not the statistics, but whether or not Denver could win, and I always need to support my favorite NFL team.  And in reality, I was quite surpised how Denver held Baltimore to 3 points, and that shows me toughness in their defense.  And again, although Plummer and Bell didn't have a big game, all that mattered to me was if Denver could come with a victory against Baltimore, and that's what happened...

If Denver can make the playoffs this year and make the Super Bowl, expect me to throw a party here in my blog.  Go Denver!

Doom on XBL Arcade is very addicting

I just downloaded the game yesterday, on October 7, 2006, and ever since I've been playing it for a total of 6 hours...in that 1 day.  Once I beat all 4 chapters in the game (I've completed the first 2), I'll give a review about it, and I can guarantee you that I'll give it a score of at least 9.0 or higher.  No wonder why Doom is considered 1 of the most influential and legendary games of all time...it's so fun and addicting.

So to y'all Xbox 360 owners, if you have Xbox Live and 800 MS points and you don't have Doom, go ahead and download it.  It's more addicting than you think it'll be.

Xbox Live Gamercard Union growing...(vital union advice inside)

The newest union that I formed, the Xbox Live Gamercard Union, is growing at a steady rate, but I think it can grow faster.  You maybe surprised by this, but my key to success is...Recruiting.  I know a lot of people tend to get annoyed by union invites, but a lot of the recruitment letters I've sent out have been accepted, and I currently have around 35 members in my union.  But there is room for improvement, though.  All I have to do to let the union grow at a rapid rate is to send out a lot of recruits, but I'm thinking some other kind-of strategy.

I can't think of another way for my union to grow, and I'm trying to look for some advice to make my union grow at a rapid rate.  The true goal I have for the Xbox Live Gamercard Union is to get over 3,000 members (and the Army emblem), but that's going to be extremely hard to accomplish.  The previous union I formed before the XBL Gamercard Union, the Uncyclopedia Union, wasn't catching on much success while I was the leader there.  You know why the Uncyclopedia Union wasn't growing that well?  I was because I was lazy.  I was too lazy to recruit, post updates, frequently check up on the union, and all kinds of other responsibilities.  So maybe this is simple advice for the new leader of the Uncyclopedia Union, kriptonzz: Recruit a lot of members, and if you're lazy, you'll never be successful at your union.  You really need to get users to like your union, and recruit a lot (so that the GS community can take notice of it), and don't abuse your responsibilities.  Because I'm a more responsible leader at the Xbox Live Gamercard Union, I'm able to get more members quicker, and I'm still working hard.

So maybe these 3 tips can be useful for union leaders through out GameSpot who have small unions and they're tired of having small unions and want large 1's:

1) Recruit like crazy.  Listen, I know recruiting and union invitations can frustrate users all the time, and I know they're tired of receiving union invitations, but this is the key to getting your union exposed to the GameSpot community.  You need to send out a lot of recruits, and don't just send 2-3 recruits every day/week.  You need to do more like between 10-30+ recruits every single day for a very long time.  Once you get used to recruiting, you'll want to send out even more invites, and all that'll happen is...a ton of users joining your union.  And trust me, every single union leader on GameSpot wants a large union, not a small union.  So all I can say is...insanely recruit a lot of users.

2) Make your union look stylish, not poor looking.  What I'm talking about here is...make a cool union banner and post updates that everyone will want to read and comment on, and do not post updates that will not interest people nor make a crappy union banner.  And if you have no union banner at all, you may not notice this, but it's worse than you think it is.  Having no union banner at all just shows that your union is poorly taken care of, and a lot of users won't be attracted by it.  And other advice: if you post crappy union updates that no 1 wants to bother reading nor commenting on them, that'll make your union look worse too.  Post interesting union updates, and make them lenghty to a certain extent.  So a combination of both a good union banner and interesting union updates/news stories will make more users want to join your union.

3) Have a lot of activity going on in your union.  This includes a lot of posting on the union board, constant updates, etc.  Having no activity going on your union won't attract any users at all.  So if you only get around 1 post a week, that just shows users that you're not a very tough leader (what I mean here is how tough a leader is on it's members, and a non-tough leader means that you let your members do anything they want and not telling them to stay active in your union.  In other words, a non-tough union leader is being too kind to it's members and not telling them to do anything).  So if you have a union you just started and you want it to grow, show the toughness a true leader would have, and have a lot of union activity going on.  So this is the conclusion of this tip: Rare union activity=no success.  A huge amount of union activity=success.  So maybe a lot of union leaders on GameSpot need to view it that way.

So an altogether vital union advice (shortened):

A lot of recruiting, style, and activity in your union=Success

Rare amount of recruiting, style, and activity in your union=No Success

So this is serious union advice, and maybe you should consider using it as a guide if you ever consider forming your own union or already have a union and want it to grow larger.

Just formed the Xbox Live Gamercard Union...

Within just a few hours after sending out the charter member invites, the union formed in an instant, so I'm starting to see early signs on success in my union...

I also recently resigned as the leader of the Uncyclopedia Union, and gave the position to kriptonzz because I believe that he's got overall more Uncyclopedia experience than I do and he's been overall more active in the union than me.  I wasn't seeing much success in the Uncyclopedia Union, so that's the main reason why I resigned my position...

Then was the time I came up with a decision to form a new union.  As I already mentioned, this is the Xbox Live Gamercard Union.  It formed almost immediately, and is now open, so if you want to join the union, I have no problem with that.  Here's the link to it:

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/unions/home.php?union_id=XBLGamercard

And if you have a desire to join my newly formed Xbox Live Gamercard Union, go ahead and join.  It's the place where you can finally discuss all things gamerscore, rep, games played, gamertags, recent games played, etc.

But if you don't want to join the union, you can just leave it aside for now.  It's brand new, and it isn't quite at mid-union form yet.

And again, this is my message telling that I recently formed the Xbox Live Gamercard Union, and I hope I'm successful at being a union leader this time.  Wish me good luck.

5000 posts, half way there, party time!

I've finally reached 5K posts...but since I'm not at 10K posts, I won't throw a big party, but I throw a small party, marking my halfway point to 10K posts, one of my major goals on GS...

To kick this off, let's get started...

A cake marking my halfway point to 10K posts:

I'll have a whole lot larger cake when I reach 10K posts...

BTW, I know that 5K posts is nothing to a lot of you users on GS, but it certainly means a lot to me...

My next celebration...I've got good news and bad news:

The bad news: I won't have a celebration between 5K and 10K posts.

The good news: Because of the bad news I have, I've decided to make things even.  I've decided to when I reach 10K posts, my party will be 2-3 times as big as I was previously planning..so that means it's going to be huge.

So go grab some cake while I can, while I embark on my journey to 10K posts...wish me good luck on the journey.

Got an Xbox Live gamertag change...

My previous gamertag, Nintendoom79, is no longer existant.  I decided to change it into J the Master, and now that's my current gamertag.  So if you want to know why you can't find Nintendoom79, that gamertag no longer under my name.  So if your looking to send me a message or friend request or whatever, for now on send it to J the Master, my current gamertag.

The reason why I changed my gamertag was that I didn't really like the name "Nintendoom79", and I felt that I needed to change it into a name that suits my style, and I was about to change it into Master J, but they said it was already in use so I had to use J the Master.  But still, I like my new gamertag much more...

I got my gamertag change for a cost of 800 MS points, as I did get 2000 points today...I also got a new gamer pic (see my gamercard on my profile page and you'll see it) and I like it a lot, but it will probably change over time.  I also downloaded a Denver Broncos theme for my 360 console.

So today, let's just say that...I'm now a proud Xbox 360 owner, who can customize it in many ways, including my gamertag, gamer pic, themes, etc.

Beat Hard mode on GRAW

Man, I couldn't believe I can actually achieve such a milestone.  At first, the first level was pretty much impossible for me, because in hard mode, in GRAW, you die in just 1 shot.  That's right, you die in just 1 shot.  But after a month or so, I finally got elite status on GRAW and I finally began to progress through levels easily on hard mode.  But at parts it wasn't easy, but I just had to try over and over again to get my momentum, and I beat hard mode (beginning to end) in just 1 day.

Beating hard mode mainly makes me feel good, because it gave me some more achievement points and the thought that I actually beat hard mode when it's made for you to die in 1 shot, but I just had to keep trying, and I finally aced it.

So to all people that own GRAW, if hard mode is seeming impossible for you, remember, don't give up.  Just keep trying and over time, you'll get more experience, and afterwards, you'll ace hard mode without yourself expecting it.

P.S.: I beat hard mode from the beginning of the game to the end, just to remind you that I didn't just complete the last level on hard mode, but I did it from the first level to the last, and I did not use a cheat code a single time throughout the whole game in hard mode.

4,000 posts, but I'm not really gonna throw a party

Every 1,000 posts I contribute, I often have a party in my blog, but this time, I'm not celebrating since 5k posts, the next 1, will be the halfway mark to 10k posts, so I'll probably have a party.  But I'm still happy I reached 4,000 posts.  All I need to do is post about 50 to 100 posts per day, and eventually, I'll get to 5,000 and hopefully 10,000 by the end of the year.....

Finally past level 20

After about 3 months of torture, or the whole summer that is.  The problem about level 20 was that you mainly gain only 1-2% at most per day, and on some occassions 3%.  I'm glad I'm finally past the dreadfully slow level 20, because the next levels are sure to be faster (I noticed once I reached level 21 that it went up 5%, I was at 99% the previous day at level 20).  If any of you reach level 20, I must warn you that it is 1 of the slowest levels on GS, and I've pretty much reached a milestone by passing it.
