The newest union that I formed, the Xbox Live Gamercard Union, is growing at a steady rate, but I think it can grow faster. You maybe surprised by this, but my key to success is...Recruiting. I know a lot of people tend to get annoyed by union invites, but a lot of the recruitment letters I've sent out have been accepted, and I currently have around 35 members in my union. But there is room for improvement, though. All I have to do to let the union grow at a rapid rate is to send out a lot of recruits, but I'm thinking some other kind-of strategy.
I can't think of another way for my union to grow, and I'm trying to look for some advice to make my union grow at a rapid rate. The true goal I have for the Xbox Live Gamercard Union is to get over 3,000 members (and the Army emblem), but that's going to be extremely hard to accomplish. The previous union I formed before the XBL Gamercard Union, the Uncyclopedia Union, wasn't catching on much success while I was the leader there. You know why the Uncyclopedia Union wasn't growing that well? I was because I was lazy. I was too lazy to recruit, post updates, frequently check up on the union, and all kinds of other responsibilities. So maybe this is simple advice for the new leader of the Uncyclopedia Union, kriptonzz: Recruit a lot of members, and if you're lazy, you'll never be successful at your union. You really need to get users to like your union, and recruit a lot (so that the GS community can take notice of it), and don't abuse your responsibilities. Because I'm a more responsible leader at the Xbox Live Gamercard Union, I'm able to get more members quicker, and I'm still working hard.
So maybe these 3 tips can be useful for union leaders through out GameSpot who have small unions and they're tired of having small unions and want large 1's:
1) Recruit like crazy. Listen, I know recruiting and union invitations can frustrate users all the time, and I know they're tired of receiving union invitations, but this is the key to getting your union exposed to the GameSpot community. You need to send out a lot of recruits, and don't just send 2-3 recruits every day/week. You need to do more like between 10-30+ recruits every single day for a very long time. Once you get used to recruiting, you'll want to send out even more invites, and all that'll happen is...a ton of users joining your union. And trust me, every single union leader on GameSpot wants a large union, not a small union. So all I can say is...insanely recruit a lot of users.
2) Make your union look stylish, not poor looking. What I'm talking about here is...make a cool union banner and post updates that everyone will want to read and comment on, and do not post updates that will not interest people nor make a crappy union banner. And if you have no union banner at all, you may not notice this, but it's worse than you think it is. Having no union banner at all just shows that your union is poorly taken care of, and a lot of users won't be attracted by it. And other advice: if you post crappy union updates that no 1 wants to bother reading nor commenting on them, that'll make your union look worse too. Post interesting union updates, and make them lenghty to a certain extent. So a combination of both a good union banner and interesting union updates/news stories will make more users want to join your union.
3) Have a lot of activity going on in your union. This includes a lot of posting on the union board, constant updates, etc. Having no activity going on your union won't attract any users at all. So if you only get around 1 post a week, that just shows users that you're not a very tough leader (what I mean here is how tough a leader is on it's members, and a non-tough leader means that you let your members do anything they want and not telling them to stay active in your union. In other words, a non-tough union leader is being too kind to it's members and not telling them to do anything). So if you have a union you just started and you want it to grow, show the toughness a true leader would have, and have a lot of union activity going on. So this is the conclusion of this tip: Rare union activity=no success. A huge amount of union activity=success. So maybe a lot of union leaders on GameSpot need to view it that way.
So an altogether vital union advice (shortened):
A lot of recruiting, style, and activity in your union=Success
Rare amount of recruiting, style, and activity in your union=No Success
So this is serious union advice, and maybe you should consider using it as a guide if you ever consider forming your own union or already have a union and want it to grow larger.
