What's up GameSpot?
I figured after my first introduction blog I should write a bit about gaming....
My foray into gaming started in 1986 when I was at the tender age of 5. I received my first Nintendo Entertainment System around this time, I cant remember exactly. Played the original Super Mario Bros. to death. I Spent an abhhorent amount of time on the NES, and developed an extensive library throughout the years, but a few memorable moments in the early years are the most fresh in my mind. The original Legend of Zelda, was probably the game that sparked my love for games. There is something fantastic about a boy saving a princess and defeating the most evil being in the world that appealed to my imagination. I have had nearly every game in the series from that moment on. By far my favorite being "A Link to the Past". I went through that game with such enthusiasm, loving every moment. I even took a picture of the ending to send into Nintendo Power (Subscriber of course).
The next event would definitely be the release of Super Mario Bros. 3. The movie "The Wizard" at the time was the first gameplay we had ever seen in North America at the time and I was frothing over it. Loved that movie, even today with its campy cheesiness it still brings back phenomenal memories. Somewhere in my parents house are pictures of me in a custom sewn Racoon Mario suit that my Mom made for me the year the the game was released. It was for halloween and at the time there were alot of video game costumes. A buddy of mine went as Link and was seriously bad ass looking...even for a young fella. Awesome stuff, I'll try to find the pictures and definitely post them.
It seems since then my gaming career has been very steady through the years. I have had so many consoles with some exceptions like Neo Geo and Sega Saturn. There was only a small sliver of time when I was not gaming alot and it was during my early twenties. Going out to bars and picking up girls in Towson, (or trying to haha) took up most of my time. But I bought my Wii at launch, from Amazon. A friend of mine called me on the day they were opening the sales and he and I both got pre-orders for it in a very small window of time. Definitely cool.... After that I fully got back into gaming and its been a blast ever since.... I bought my 360 about this time last year, and just 2 weeks ago picked up a PS3. So I am fully prepared to write reviews for all the systems.
So I hope you guys enjoyed some of this blog, albeit lengthy, I hope you can remember the times that keep us gaming. If I hadn't been a huge fan of the Eight Bit era, I probably would not be playing today. The memories are great.....
