I've been looking over the Samsung 23" LED Syncmaster S23A750D, a 120hz TN monitor. It has two ports, one for an HDMI cable and another for a DisplayPort cable. It can only run in 60hz if you use and HDMI cable.

The problem is that the graphics card I'm going to buy doesn't have a DisplayPort connector but it does have two mini DisplayPort connectors. So I'm wondering wether or not the monitor will be able to run in 120hz if use a mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable instead of a regular DisplayPort cable.

Any got a clue?

I've decided to build myself a new PC but I'm having a really hard time deciding which graphics card to get. It seems the HD 6970 is a pretty formidable card, especially in a CrossFire setup. I've been doing some research though and the HD 6970 is apparently a pretty hot running card, especially in a CrossFire setup since there usually isn't enough space between the cards for decent airflow to get through. So I have a few questions about the HD 6970:

Will I be needing a case with really good airflow? Must I therefore avoid especially silent cases?

Will I need to buy a bunch of extra fans, and if so, how many? Is there even a point to run these cards in CrossFire without water cooling?

Are there manufacturers that sell extra thin 6970's or socket 1155 motherboards with handsomely spaced PCI-e slots for a decent price?

Also, what wattage is recommended for a 6970 SLI setup?

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I used Driver Sweeper and deleted all Nvidia display and PhysX files. I restarted my PC and installed the new drivers. As soon the installation was complete, my screen was covered with white and black stripes. I rebooted and as soon as it said windows starting up, my screen went black. Oh well, any other suggestions?

The problem is if I do this, it removes my drivers for my network card, and after I re-install them I'll be right back where I am now. I will check if there's any other old Nvidia files I might have missed though, thanks.

So I upgraded my GPU and PSU a few days ago, from a NVIDIA GeForce GT120 1GB to a Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 512MB. The problem is I can't update my graphics drivers without my screen going black. The computer is still turned on and i can reboot, i can also change desktop resolution, but that's about it. If I try to do anything else my screen goes black, sometimes with white stripes. My computer works fine if I only use the drivers that came with the card, but there are a lot of games that will not start unless (Im guessing) update my drivers. Also, since I have an NVIDIA nForce 630i motherboard, I don't think I can remove all of the NVIDIA files since I couldn't connect to the Internet last time i did that, which I read and was told is important before you upgrade to a new graphics card. If there's any relevant information Im leaving out or you would like to know, please just ask. Greatly appreciate any suggestions on things that may help.

Damn, I have no idea what brand my PSU is, probably some crappy brand though. How much power would I need to be safe? Would a PSU with 450W and with the 80+ thing from Fractal design be good enough? Do you know if Fractal Design are any good?
