[QUOTE="Rakuho"]

wow 360 owners are pretty pissed about mass's score, and i'm already drained from the uncharted thread.

wasn't this game hyped GoTY?

no love from GS today.

PlasmaBeam44

360 owners (and PS3) can be just as irrational and insane as the Nintendo crowd when there most anticipated games don't like up to expectations.

Expectations are lived up to by the game - it's the reviewer's score that is inconsistant with statements made in HIS OWN review. The only things that were mentioned as being detrimental were small snags in frame rate, some obscure loading times, and a crappy machine gun cannon on the Mako.

Wow, how the hell can you not be upset - if the same was said about a game on the PS3 or the Wii, I would expect other gamers to behave in the same manner.

This is more than just about the game - this is about representing a product to consumers; many of whom rely on the reviews made of games (I don't always but I have from time to time like for BIOSHOCK). If consumers can't rely on the reviews made by editors then they are blind when it comes to purchasing games for gifts and even for themselves if they live somewhere where there are no game stores locally (like in rural communities where they have stuff shipped to their homes). These reasons are why reviews need to be fair. There are many inconsistancies with the review and other reviews along with the awards given and statements like phenomenal graphics and the game not receiving the "great visual design" award.

For some reason it almost appears that someone is intentionally trying to sabotage Mass Effect by giving it a bad review - I know it sounds conspiracy theory-like but still: AC had MASSIVE CLIPPING ISSUES and it still got a 9.0. AC had a REDUNDANT AND REPETITIVE MISSION DESIGN (see my review). AC had a crappy story (sorry, it did, I'm actually recanting what I had said in my review - the story blew). Gamespot even mentions in the Mass Effect review that the GRAPHICS ARE PHENOMENAL!!!! Yet it didn't get the award that AC did for its graphics....This is a totally inconsistent review with everything that has been stated and observed. The review should hold little to no weight being that the entire review is full of inconsistancies and unfairly weighted downgrading.

Shame on you gamespot - I fart in your general direction.

What the hell?! Why a 8.5 - Assassin's Creed has more glitches than Mass Effect! Somebody is holding the corporate flag, Gamespot - who's is it?

To all of those who got the game early (by the way I hope you all enjoy it you lucky punks) how is the frame rate? I have heard disturbing things about the frame rate droping dramatically during big gun battles - is this true? Have you seen anything so far that makes the frame rate annoying? Just curious - thanks!

[QUOTE="KMRB"]Is Mass Effect a Game of the Year candidate? Is it better than Halo 3? Is Bioshock in the running? I am just curious about these questions and how others feel about the games mentioned. I am looking forward to Mass Effect and I loved Bioshock, I was less thrilled with Halo 3 - I felt a lot of hype and only minorexcitement while playing. Let me know what you think!ISuperGamerI

Well....just from your avator I am not going to answer your question. YOU ARE THE WEAKEST LINK.

Wow, that really didn't help at all except for to annoy me - go somewhere else if you are not going to contribute - and by the way nobody asked you to answer my question and I don't get on here all the time because I have a life outside of this website.

Also, I am only curious, as a consumer - because I equate Mass Effect to the likes of Half Life 2 in its uniqueness and its gameplay. Even though it has not come out yet - one can observe these types of qualities.

Why dont you stop contributing to these so called "Game of the Year" topics as its pointless especially when a game such as Mass Effect has not even been released. You say "nobody asked you to answer my question" yet you did ask everyone on these boards. Not to mention that Mass Effect is a completely different game genre compared with Halo 3, Bioshock and Half-Life 2.

Okay,

Other than your annoying comment, the question still stands: Genre doesn't matter - OVERALL GAME OF THE YEAR does - so is Mass Effect, Bioshock, or Halo 3 going to clentch that title? I don't see any other game doing it...

I just think it's kinda funny that we're sorta deciding what someone should spend their money on, lol. Well, good luck with either choice, both are good games, I'm saving my money for Mass Effect myself (notice my prior plug for that game). If you like CoD4 that's great - I look forward to playing that game in the future, but my heart is set on Mass Effect - something about it just seems promising...
