Ridley is not to big to be playable in Smash Bros 4, and here's why (copied from a post of mine)
I find it strange that people mention that Ridley can be shrunk like Bowser or Charizard but never give any comparisons (MINOR SPOILERS). In the Super Mario Galaxy 2 finale, Bowser was bigger than most of the planets, in 64 he was three or four times the size of Mario, and in Sunshine he was the size of a small skyscraper IIRC. If Bowser can be resized for Smash Bros, than Ridley definately can be. (And before the trolls read this, yes I am aware that Bowser's size changes drastically from game to game). Ridley on the other hand (standing straight up) is never more than two or three times the size of Samus and in the original Metroid, he was the same size as Samus. The only real issue is his tail since his wings are always folded when he's not flying, but his tail length changes from game to game so it's really not an issue. However, if Sakurai wants to be an @$$ about it, they could always put Ridley in in one of his other forms from Other M.
