@notjm: Xbox did it. You can play the original Halo on an Xbox One X and do a local system link with an OG Xbox and play 8-player deathmatch. There's no excuses anymore. The PS3 architecture is the exception, not the rule and totally on Sony for doing something so unorthodox and unnecessary. PS3 was Sony's biggest mistake with the PS line.
@notjm: imagine if 4K Blu-ray players didn’t play DVDs or regular HD Blu-rays. You’d be fine with having several players? BC is very convenient and often improves graphical quality and performance, which is the real advantage.
@yankeeallstars: I assume they have to test every single game to some extent in order to say "it works". I can imagine that would take a loooong time and hitting the top 100 games so they could say something about BC was a better option than holding out until a month before launch to say its 99.9% compatible.
This list is shorter than the compatibility list between PS2 and PS2 Slim (yes there actually were some PS2 games that didn't work on the PS2 Slim lol)
@naydazng7: to be fair, you’ve always been able to replace the HDDs on PS3/4 with off the shelf HDDs. This is the first time that they have an expansion slot tho which is great. No having to reinstall the OS and all my games when I want to upgrade.
@bdrtfm: you should see how hard it is to replace a hard drive on an OG Xbox One. I had to watch a video to figure out how to disassemble it and I felt like I was going to break it at times. The OG model such a clunky console too. PS4 has one screw in an easily accessible location on all models of PS4.
